THE GOOD SAMARITAN: Daisy Ridley Actioner Adds Josh Duhamel And Sharlto Copley For Summer Start
Cameras will roll in July for action thriller The Good Samaritan following last year’s news with actress Daisy Ridley (Star Wars franchise) set to star. On Tuesday, casting also announced Josh Duhamel (Shotgun Wedding, Transformers franchise) and Sharlto Copley (Monkey Man, District 9) for the pic.
Taken and Banlieue 13 helmer Pierre Morel is directing the film based on an original screenplay from Rambo: Last Blood screenwriter Matthew Ian Cirulnick. Highland Film Group is handling international rights and is continuing sales at EFM in Berlin. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are co-representing U.S. domestic rights.
In The Good Samaritan, a successful entrepreneur named Dr. Rosalind Carver (Ridley) and her husband Matt rescue a wounded man drifting off the coast of Indonesia, oblivious that they’re stepping into a deadly conspiracy. Within hours, their yacht vanishes, Matt is abducted by a gang of ruthless pirates led by Langbore (Copley), and paradise becomes a trap. Imprisoned by corrupt officials, Rosalind crosses paths with Sean Fuller (Duhamel), a battle-hardened ex-mercenary with his own reasons for taking down the pirates. In a desperate race against time, Rosalind and Sean are forced into an uneasy alliance, fighting to save her husband and expose a global trafficking empire that eliminates anyone who tries to stop it.
Mark Canton (300, “Power,” Den of Thieves) of Canton Entertainment is producing as are Dorothy Canton (Arthur The King, “Power”) of Canton Entertainment, Oakhurst Pictures (Canary Black, Hotel Tehran) and Renee Tab (Freelance) of Sentient Entertainment. Exec Producers include Morel and Cirulnick, along with Ryan Winterstern, David Hopwood, David Lipper, and Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser for Highland Film Group, with Canton Entertainment’s Karley Ferlic serving as a Co-Producer.

Jackson and Eva Green and Brad Anderson’s psychological thriller Moral Capacity starring Dacre Montgomery, Diane Lane, Sofia Boutella and Tim Robbins.
