THE HIT LIST: February 18, 2019

I have to say, the past week has been a real test for me, but I look forward to having a better year than how things have been of late.

As for now, it’s time to get back to the business of showing you all what’s what in our weekly endeavors with The Hit List, starting with the usual stunt and action reel adventures from around the web.

We begin with an almighty reel by David William No fresh with snippets from Blindsided, Altered Carbon, The Matrix Trilogy and more. Following that are reels by Antjuan Rhames, Caitlin McNerney, Dani Medina, Jonathan Mercedes, Heinrich Laurent, Amanda McLeod, Sam Desmond, Scott Hoffman, Michael Blouin, Tarmo Hietala, Michaela McAllister, James Ortiz, Vitas Lebas, Dave Cutler, Melissa Spolar, Bryce Garcia, Richard Cotta, Mark Whitman, PeiPei Alena Yuan, and a dazzling, brutal fight choreographer reel by one of the industry’s finest out of South Africa, Grant Powell.

Time to promite some gems and we actually begin with a for a shortfilm project out of Vietnam titled The Kite Under The Rain. Directed by Truy Sat helmer Cuong Ngo, it received wins for Excellent Short Action Film, and for starring actor Dan Nguyen for Best Gongfu Actor at last year’s fifth San Fran International New Concept Film Fest. The short is available in the U.S. courtesy of Thuy Nga, and you can rent or purchase through Vimeo OnDemand by clicking here.

Following that is a trailer for Chikuzo, from multi-faceted actor and performer Tanguy Guinchard. There’s no release date but we’ll be on top of this one for certain when it releases.

And lastly is a trailer for a new Krav Maga-centric urban action short that was forwarded to me by my good friend Paul Varacchi. Engage is the name and hails from instructor and CQC expert, actor and filmmaker Itay Gil, and is reportedly releasing in April. And there’s a bit more info about Gil’s work at EngageMovie.com.

And we’re off to the remaining hits of the week with a run of practice bits and action shorts, and first up is Rory Bratter who made some noise last week with Eric Jabcobus in our 2.11.19 installment. That find led me to a pair of previous test fights he did and you can find them as our first two entries below also including Steven Rodriguez and Chris Cortez, and with Nik Pelekai.

Erin Haus has some Traffic to beat over at Duel Headed Lion while Kiera O’Connor tests the wills of Cina McKenna and Caitlin Hutson in Jay Kwon’s Fight Or Flight, Leroy Nguyen has it out with Edmond Shum in a reupload of Rising Tiger Films’ 2009 short, One Last Rumble, and director Ryan Wells emerges from the dark with the cyclically violent crime drama, Bleed.

Second to last is the premiere episode of Art School Dropouts’ new webseries, Yes Auntie: My Asian Auntie Season 2, with new episodes every Thursday through March, and coming into our finale is Filip Florian as he fights to Escape, also featuring Ian Williamson, Stuart Williamson and Brownin October.

Enjoy the hits!
