THE HIT LIST: May 13, 2019

At long last, it’s been another two weeks since then and so it’s time to present the latest finds from around the web for another installment of The Hit List.

Clockwise from top left: Sunny Smith, Kyle Murillo, Mao Asou, Jean-Paul Ly, Caitlin Hutson, Victoria Lee Parella, Fernando Jay Huerto, Pam Wellington, Kyro Wavebourne, Anita Clay

We first begin with an exhilirating raft of stunt training and demo reels in the first playlist headed by Kyle Freemantle, Rubie Planson, Andre Nurse, Victoria Lee Parella, Kyro Wavebourne, Mao Asou, Tom Caserto, Pam Wellington, Daniel Rivera, Shannon Beshears, Nick Epper, Mollie Wilson, Alexander Mack, Anita Clay, Justin Krall, Claire Hoogenboom, Bryan Durant, Caitlin Hutson, Alexander Burgos, Myra Mala, Kyle Murillo, Kayla Longshore, Joe Daru, Lexie Kay, Lance Jemison, Sara Holden, Shawn Patrick Lane, Milena Brewster, Brian A. Prince, Michael Yadvish with a Lightsaber Comp promo reel for Yad-Fu Films, and a hype reel teasing past and future work of Deviant Children Productions.

The crowdfunding campaign may have expired so things will take a bit longer for Team Red and Quirktastic’s exciting new anime mashup, Afro Samurai Champloo. At any rate though, they threw a pretty enticing teaser up for the masses a few weeks ago and it’s totally worth the case it makes, and we wish these cats the absolute best.

And just over here is the official poster for Anthony Javier’s new short, Kuya, the story of two brothers on opposite sides of the law and forced to square off following a weapons deal gone south. Javier will be on hand to present the short at the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba for Asian Film Night on Friday, May 17. (MORE INFO HERE)

The indie action continues with the latest raft of fights and films, starting with Dylan Hintz’s latest collab with Emily Tung and Femi Olagoke, and a pair of vids from Jefferson Lewis III and featuring Shawn Anthony, Jenin Gonzalez, Troy Butler, Miles Brew and Javier Macias.

Eliver Ling sizes up a trio of stunties for choreographer and cimrma Malay Kim while Branden Arnold and Marques Zaror jack into a Matrix-style match up, and all before we hit the sticks with Ben Van Huis and Kyle Glenn Sutherland, Mykola Galagan boxes it out with Maksim Kor, Brian Barber and Joshua Moaney duke it out with Jon Beal for JK Films while Joey Slash and Nathan Peoples headline Fiend, and Ermias Baraki battles his own Delusions for Frappe Mortelle Productions.

Martial Club hits the Hit List once more here and now with an Avengers mashup, Andrew Marajh and Kai Ferris square off with Leo Nakanishi and Takuya Iida in Yakuza Paluza, Harry Makanga dons the 007 persona for his own Bond-inspired action short, and Stanton Chong outlines fanboy Dan Ginnane’s singular quest in a galaxy not too far away opposite Josh Dohy, Berlin Lu and Gurpreet Dhaliwal (a.k.a. Gopy D.), while Shaun Charney battles it out with Yin-Yang Sisters Kiera O’Connor and Lee Chesley, and Mark Poletti and Julie Zhan face deadly decision amid high drama and kinetic action in Jack & Jill from Mountain Bar Productions.

Last and far from least are two entries – firstly from film duo Fernando Jay Huerto and Sunny Smith who now close a near-decade-long chapter of the Jabronie Pictures legacy with the fifteenth episode and series finale of independent webseries, Battle Hero Absolute. Following that is the half-hour prelude, proof to a concept currently brewing as a hopeful feature with debut director Jean-Paul Ly’s hit shortfilm, The Division.

Enjoy the hits!
