THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU Feature Continuation Of The Hit Show Films This Year!
The next phase of “The Mandalorian” is in development for the big screen as the trades are reporting as of Tuesday. Series exec producer Jon Favreau is on board to direct, as well as produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni.
Tilted The Mandalorian & Grogu, the new film follows up on the three-season success of the hit aforementioned series which launched in 2019, spotlighting a new arc in the sprawling Star Wars saga with actor Pedro Pascal in the title role. The series is one of several live-action takes in the universe featured on the Disney+ service, along with “The Book Of Boba Fett,” and last year’s Rosario Dawson starrer, “Ashoka,” with others pending including “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” and Leslye Headland’s “The Acolyte” with Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.
Tuesday’s report marks just the latest on the film front for the Disney/Lucasfilm trajectory following 2019 Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker of the Star Wars triptych. That news includes details of late which will see Daisy Ridley’s character return in another film to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy who was announced for the project in 2021.
