The New Teaser For GONIN SAGA Awakens A Two-Decade-Old Grudge!

Japan’s economic crisis in the mid-1990’s proved quite useful in setting up a working formula for writer and director Ishii Takashi’s 1995 crime thriller, Gonin, starring Sato Koichi and legendary actor Kitano Takeshi in a violent tale of one man’s consequential attempt to rob the Yakuza with the help of four desperate cohorts. The film led to an indirect sequel a year later, but gladly enough, fans who enjoyed the first can now get a taste of what’s to come with the brand new teaser for Gonin Saga, a generational sequel almost two vengeful decades in the making and clearly aimed at adding just a few more layers to the drama, action, suspense, intrigue and thrills.

SYNOPSIS via Eigapedia:

Yuto’s father was Shigeru Hisamatsu, a young lieutenant with the Gosei-kai affiliated Ogoshi gang. Although Hisamatsu is a peaceful young man who’s grown up to have a very different life than his late father, a certain incident leads him to vow revenge against Gosei-kai.

Ando Masanobu and Emoto Tasuku join actors Higashide Masahiro, Kiritani Kenta, and actress Tsuchiya Anna with actress and The Wolverine co-star Fukushima Rila, and returning actors Nezu Jinpachi and Takenaka Naoto among the cast of old and new faces into this third installament of Ishii‘s franchise. Japan gets to see it on the big screen on September 26 from Kadokawa Pictures and Pony Canyon, which may undoubtedly service moviegoers an awesome twenty-year anniversary release.
