Director Lee Seok-hoon‘s newest action adventure feature, The Pirates, had a stellar showing at Cannes last month, having been sold to up to 15 countries including the U.S., reportedly marking the highest presale rate for a Korean period film this year. And there is doubt, its international rights holder, Lotte Entertainment, holds this as a remarkable achievement leading up to the film’s domestic theatrical release which will soon be announced.
At any rate, netizens can now get an idea at what impressed buyers in France a few weeks ago with a brand new teaser now availble for viewing. Lead actress Son Ye-jin rounds out the principle cast with Kim Nam-gil and actress and k-pop girl band f(x) member Sulli, to name a few.

SYNOPSIS:
At the onset of Joseon’s founding, envoys bringing the Emperor’s Seal of State to Joseon lose it to a big whale at sea. A bandit Sa-jung goes out to sea to catch the whale with a big reward on its head. But he soon clashes with Yeo-wol, a female captain of pirates, and unexpected adventure unfolds.
