Director Justin Lee (Badland, Swell) is on the way with action thriller, The Protector, featuring Ed Morrone (Killing Lazarus), and a cast that includes Billy Zane (Titanic, Tombstone), Randy Couture (The Expendables franchise), Danny Trejo (Heat, Machete) and James Russo (Donnie Brasco, Django Unchained).

Morrone plays Mickey Rome, an aging protection specialist who is ready to holster his guns and head for retirement. When the agency he works for demands one last job be done, Mickey obliges and is sent to Central America to watch a husband and wife who have stolen eight million dollars from a ruthless crime family.

The independent production hails from Lee’s Legion XIII, directed and produced from his own script. Rounding out the cast are Doctor Drew Pinsky (Loveline, Wildhogs), Johnny Messner (Tears Of The Sun, Running Scared) and Eddie Finlay (2 Fast 2 Furious, Bad Boys 2).

“This movie is a fun throwback to films from the 80s like Lethal Weapon, Midnight Run and 48 Hours. It has action. It has comedy. It has dark moments. It was such a joy to get to work in a space I love so much with phenomenal talent! I can’t wait for everyone to see Ed Morrone as Mickey!” Lee says.

Also producing are Daemon Hillin and Melanie Young, with Vasily Bernhardt of TB Films executive producing.
