THE PROTECTOR: Jo Rolison Subverts Gender Roles And Tunnel Goons In Bruce Chong’s New Action Comedy Short
I’ve covered actor and director Bruce Chong a few times on this website. His latest lends another endearing reminder for me of when I had the time of day and people were still using YouTube to present their shortfilms for me to curate. Enter The Protector which pairs him alongside Jo Rolison who steps up to the plate in fine, charismatic screenfighting form.
Set in the mean streets of London, an unassuming couple’s date night turns violent when confronted by a group of roadmen, uncovering hidden identities, secret organisations, and assassins.
The Protector swept a bunch of festivals and awards in the past year and is now online for our collective enjoyment. I dig the action direction here, especially, as well as the comedy. Check it out:
Native New Yorker. Been writing for a long time now, and I enjoy what I do. Be nice to me!
