THE RUNNING MAN Official Trailer Pits Glen Powell Against Everyone!
Director Edgar Wright’s latest film is promising something more loyal to a literally classic than its Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring predecessor. At least, that’s the buzz I’ve read about The Running Man from Paramount Pictures while I’ve not read the novel myself, and am more familiar with the 1987 adaptation than anything.
For now though, they say a film is only as measurably good as the trailer pushing it. The potential is certainly there with Wright’s latest iteration of Stephen King’s pennants 1982 novel with Powell in fine form as the man selected to play a deadly game of survival, and a notable cast that also lists William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Jayme Lawson, and Daniel Ezra, along with Josh Brolin, and actor Colman Domingo as the game’s extravagant host.
In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.
November 7 is the date from Paramount. The trailer is now online following footage that screened exclusively at CinemaCon earlier this year, which was all the rave according to those who attended. Take a look below!
