Timo Tjahjanto Returns With Action Thriller THE SHADOW STRAYS For Netflix

Netflix

If you’re bewildered any about what director Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes For Us, Headshot) is up to these days, I totally get it. I reckon as much that we can just about deduce all of his priorities down to the project he has at his disposal following his deal with Netflix, and for all intents and purposes, it’s been a worthwhile journey to follow.

Between his past work and his solo directorial gigs in the last several years, he’s proven himself more than able to meet the demand, and with any luck, he’s bound to do that again. Enter The Shadow Strays, for one. Announced Thursday by the streamer, production is under way on the action thriller with a cast that reunites him with other select performers from his previous film, The Big 4. Production hails from Frontier Pictures and is produced by Wicky V. Olindo, and Anne P. Ralie.

“I am thrilled to be working with this incredibly talented group in an exciting project with Netflix,” said Timo.

Cast list includes Aurora Ribero (Like & Share, Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens), Hana Malasan (Ben & Jody), Ali Fikri (Nussa, Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca), Adipati Dolken (Posesif, Why Do You Love Me), Kristo Immanuel (The Big 4), Andri Mashadi (KKN di Desa Penari, The Big 4), Taskya Namya (Waktu Maghrib), Agra Piliang (Serigala Terakhir, Galih & Ratna), Daniel Eka and Tanta Ginting (Star Syndrome, Balada Si Roy), as well as Malaysian actor Chew Kin Wah (Check the Store Next Door, Buya Hamka), veteran actor Arswendy Bening Swara (Autobiography, Missing Home), Hiroaki Kato (Ivanna), Nobuyuki Suzuki (HiGH&Low franchise, Soekarno, Nagabonar Jadi 2), and many more, according to the company.

Plot details are pending, although Tjahjanto took to social media to describe the project as follows:

That’s all we know and all we have for the moment, and only because it’s Timo, who is well known to be cryptic with anything that he shares, and that’s fine. All things in good time I guess.
