Vincent Cassel Arms Up Against Matt Damon In BOURNE 5

The Bourne saga continues to grow this week in Europe with principal photography having already begun for the latest installation from director Paul Greengrass. Matt Damon is taking the lead once more in a role that has further cemented him as an action star in his own right since first starring in the 2002 film, The Bourne Identity, which kicked off a highly successful trilogy up to 2007 prior to branching out with actor Jeremy Renner’s 2012 spin-off, The Bourne Legacy.

Nil a word has yet been given in the months since Renner’s return to his role was stated, but Damon‘s reprisal is set to appear for the film’s release next year with a script by Greengrass and co-scribe Christopher Rouse. The plot is also thinly known as well aside from Damon‘s recent blurbs regarding the story’s setting in an austerity-ridden Europe within a “post-Snowden” world, and filming locations set between Greece and Las Vegas, Nevada in the U.S..

We’re sure to learn much more in due time, but whatever happens, we’ve got a great cast line-up with actor Tommy Lee Jones, as well as Alicia Vikander and returning actress Julia Stiles reclaiming her role from the initial trilogy. We now also have word from Variety that Child 44, The Crimson Rivers and The Brotherhood Of The Wolf co-star, actor Vincent Cassel will be joining in on the espionage as an assassin similar to that of actors Nicky Naudé Clive Owen, Karl Urban, Joey Ansah and Edgar Ramirez.

The fifth Bourne movie still has an official title pending while the date remains set for July 29, 2016, just months prior to the November 23 release of Damon’s latest China period epic, The Great Wall. His next appearance will be in The Martian which is set for October 2, 2015.
