WARDRIVER Adds Cast, First Look At Dane DeHaan In Upcoming Crime Thriller
Highland Film Group has introduced a first look still for upcoming thriller, Wardriver, starring Dane DeHaan (Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Production just wrapped in Utah as the firm readies to rep international sales at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) market, with CAA Media Finance repping domestic.
Casting has also been announced with the additions of Sasha Calle (Warner Bros.’ The Flash, Daniel Minahan’s TIFF title On Swift Horses), Mamoudou Athie (Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness and Prentice Penny’s Uncorked) and Jeffrey Donovan (USA Network’s “Burn Notice,” Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario) for the action crime flick. Rebecca Thomas (Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and the horror series “Archive 81”) is directing the film from a script by Daniel Casey (Universal’s F9: The Fast Saga, Paramount Pictures’ 10 Cloverfield Lane) and produced by Star Thrower Entertainment (King Richard).
In Wardriver, DeHaan plays Cole, a brilliant tech-savvy thief who exploits his highly specialized skills to commit high-tech robberies from his laptop. When criminal Oscar (Athie) uncovers Cole’s abilities, he forces him to hack the account of the beautiful Sarah (Calle), draining nearly a million dollars. But Cole soon discovers that a powerful, mob-connected lawyer (Donovan) has been using Sarah to hide his money. As Cole falls hard for Sarah, he initiates a plan to replace the stolen money, while protecting her. Ignoring warning signs that something greater is at play, Cole soon finds himself pulled into an elaborate web of lies, deceit and betrayal.
Wardriver is produced by Tim and Trevor White’s Star Thrower Entertainment (Netflix’s Sundance hit Fair Play, Warner Bros.’ Academy Award-nominated King Richard, 20th Century Fox’s The Post) alongside David M. Wulf (Call Jane, The Card Counter), Daniel Casey, Dane DeHaan and Highland Film Group. The film is executive produced by Lee Broda and Kevin Matusaw in association with LB Entertainment and Traveling Picture Show Company.
Calle is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein Lezcano Bobb & Dang, and ImPRint; Athie is repped by WME, Sugar23, and Narrative; Donovan is repped by CAA, Hirsch-Wallerstein and Anonymous Content; Thomas is repped by CAA, Circle of Confusion, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
