WITHOUT REMORSE: Tom Clancy Adapatation Lands With ‘Sicario 2’ Director

Director Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah) sought last year to continue the amazing progress left by Denis Villenueve with Sicario 2: Day Of The Soldado, and he did so in spades. The dark, chilling world of danger and espionage runs provenly high in his storytelling skillset – one that will now apply to his next foray in Paramount’s Without Remorse, based on the seventh book in the late Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series.

As Variety noted Wednesday night, Michael B. Jordan, fresh off of Creed 2 is moving forward to produce AND star in the film claiming the role of John Kelly – originally iterated in the books as a former Navy Seal and Vietnam vet and often seen as a secondary character aiding Ryan on missions – pitted between a mission of vengeance, and a life-or-death rescue operation ordered by the Pentagon. In the midst of all this, Kelly is given a codename in the form of “Mr. Clark”.

The book was published in 1993 prior to future Jack Ryan film adaptations foreseeing actors Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber cast in the role. Jordan will be the third actor to claim the role as production aims for early next year with Without Remorse serving as a vehicle going into Clancy follow-up, Rainbow Six. Akiva Goldsman is serving as main producer, and with Josh Appelbaum, and Andre Nemec also producing.

Sollima is also on par to direct a live-action adaptation of Call Of Duty for Activision’s film shingle, Activision Blizzard Studios, as of February.
