WMAC MASTERS Actor Gives Update On Upcoming Series Reboot!
It’s still early days as the reboot of hit TV series WMAC Masters continues brewing well into the new year. For the team behind the efforts though, that still leaves ample time to put the language out for fans to hear and observe in addition to this year’s announcements, including the first in a string of interviews to come from fight choreographer, firearms expert and executive producer James Sang Lee, who talked more about it with decorated martial artist and stunt professional Carmichael Simon who is also producing.
The interview was held at this month’s 2025 edition of U.S. Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships where Lee and Simon kicked off the latest stage in their “Quest For The Next” campaign following news of the reboot back in the Spring. The original WMAC Masters series – hosted by Shannon Lee and featuring a bevy of martial artists and actors – premiered in 1995 as a pseudo competition series in the vein of espionage action and thrills where each fighter battled for the ultimate prize, the Dragon Star.
Simon is a NASKA Triple Crown Winner and tricking innovator best known for his role as “Kid Carmichael” on the original show. He and Lee are shepherding the reboot for Cannon Entertainment Group, along with Scott Manthey who is also exec producer. Kristopher Landis, author of the 2022 paperback, “Quest for the Dragon Star: An Oral History of WMAC Masters,” is penning the series.
Watch the interview below where Simon talks up the series revamp, points on health and wellness, the legacy he shares from late mentor and TaeKwonDo Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee, and much more:
