A WU-TANG EXPERIENCE: LIVE AT THE RED ROCKS AMPITHEATRE Trailer: Breaking Glass Pictures Takes Worldwide Digital Rights For May Release
Breaking Glass Pictures has picked up A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The feature musical doc concert is directed and produced by RZA and Gerald K. Barclay, and will release via digital on all major platforms worldwide on May 6.
The movie chronicles the Wu-Tang Clan’s legendary performance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2021, backed by the 60-piece Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Performances include live renditions of Wu-Tang classics such as “C.R.E.A.M.” and “Protect Ya Neck, “as well as a special live-score screening of the martial arts classic, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, MCeed by Shaolin Jazz.
The documentary also showcases behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Wu-Tang Clan members, classical musicians, and music historians with deeper insight into hip-hop’s evolving place within the world of prestigious musical genres.
“We are beyond thrilled to bring A Wu-Tang Experience to audiences worldwide,” said Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures. “This film is more than just a concert—it’s a cultural event that highlights Wu-Tang Clan’s lasting influence on music and their ability to push creative boundaries. Fans new and old will experience a moment in hip-hop history like never before.”
“I chose to work with Rich Wolff and his team because of their dedication to championing independent voices and culturally significant stories,” added Barclay. “Wu-Tang Clan’s legacy is global, and this documentary captures a historic moment that deserves to be shared far and wide.”
Wu-Tang Clan launched in 1993, and became a skyrocketing success for its ubiquitous musical blend inspired by Eastern philosophy, kung fu cinema, Afro-American Nationalism, and comic books. Featured in the doc concert are most of its current collective members, including Method Man, Cappadonna, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Raekwon, and YDB – son of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard (a.k.a. Russell Jones) who passed away in 2004.
RZA, one of the group’s core founders, also shares a roster of screen credits in a number of facets. In 2012, he made his narrative feature debut with his 2012 kung fu starrer, The Man With The Iron Fists, starring as a stoic Blacksmith who takes up a new set of arms and joins a ragtag team of heroes to defend Jungle Village from the tyrannical Lion Clan. Among some of his additional mix of credits are G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Repo Men, Cut Throat City, and Hulu series “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” as well as Bob Odenkirk starrer, Nobody, and its upcoming sequel from Universal Pictures, Nobody 2, in August.
Prior to Breaking Glass Pictures’ acquisition, A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre presented a series of event screenings leading up to its exclusive digital debut on PBS in November 2024. It held a special screening at Lincoln Center highlighting its cultural and musical significance, as well as for the 21st edition of the North Carolina Black Film Festival.
A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre is also produced by Gregory Chestnut, Divine Diggs Jr., and Tamika Layton, and is exec produced by Mitchell “Divine” Diggs. Associate producers are Gano Grills and Demetrius Cheeks.
