‘Black Kung Fu Cinema’ Knuckles Up For Blaxploitation Screenings In Durham This Spring

This Spring, down south will be the place to be as Speller Street Films, in association with The Pinhook and Mo’ Better Soul, sets up shop in Durham, North Carolina, as its next stop for traveling Blaxploitation cinema exhibition and screening series, “Black Kung Fu Cinema”. April 23 will see the premiere of Lu Chun-Ku’s 1975 thriller, The Black Dragon’s Revenge, starring Ron Van Clief, followed by Cirio H. Santiago’s 1974 femme fatale thriller, TNT Jackson on May 21. Both screenings will be accompanied by pre-recorded Q&A segments with the films’ lead stars, Ron Van Clief and Jean Bell, respectify, and will feature live music by D.J. DEAD ZONE: Michael Jai White Squads Up In First Look At Sci-Fi Creature Thriller

Deadline‘s Tom Grater has the exclusive first look at creature actioner, Dead Zone, from director Hank Braxtan. The pic hails from Automatic Entertainment whose Michael Lurie, Jeffrey Giles and Tarkan Dospil are producing. Per the report, Dead Zone “follows an elite team of soldiers who, to stop the collapse of humanity, descend on a radiation-poisoned town and perform the ultimate stealth mission using high-tech armor and weapons. But they need to be careful – with hell on Earth, they may just meet the devil.” The film also stars Chad Michael Collins, Jeff Fahey, and Antuone Torbert, and is now in post-production. RUPTURE: New Stills From The Upcoming Sci-Fi Action Revenge Thriller Starring Mark Strange

Director Ranjeet Marwa is currently in post-production with suspense thriller, Dig Me No Grave, following wrap last month. More notably, he’s also in toe with sci-fi cyberpunk thriller, Rupture, with sales inquiries still out and are still on the table ahead of TBD release dates and a hopeful premiere in toe for this year’s seventh Fighting Spirit Film Festival in the UK. Until then, Marwa is continuing to roll out stills for the pic via social media which we’ve shared below. Starring Ip Man 4 actor Mark Strange in the lead role, Rupture centers on Raven, a recently freed man from prison who must confront the people who put him inside, effectively placing focus on whether or not revenge is or isn’t always the answer. FREE GUY Sequel: 20th Century Studios President Confirms Development

A Free Guy sequel is confirmed in development at 20th Century Studios, as confirmed by studio president Steve Asbell in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. The interview, published by Borys Kit, focused on Asbell’s own 20th anniversary with 20th Century, it’s addition into the Disney family, and its future going forward with films in both theatrical and streaming mediums. In response to Kit’s question regarding how many productions would be planned annually, Asbell noted that the studio is “navigating the marketplace like everyone else”, citing there would be two or three movies in development per year with IPs such as Avatar, Planet of the Apes and Free Guy having “well-established theatrical precedence for a wide audience.” On the film’s status he adds: “We’re awaiting a script that is days away. Following the announced removal of several Marvel/Disney shows from Netflix last month, Disney+ is affirming is committment to its line-up as of Tuesday, bringing “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, “Iron Fist”, “The Defenders” and “The Punisher” to its platform beginning March 16.
