Timo Tjahjanto’s newest Indonesian actioner, The Shadow Strays, clocks in at almost the same duration as his previous thriller, The Big 4. REVOLVER Trailer: Well Go USA Unloads New Korean Crime Drama Next Week

The official trailer for director Oh Seung-uk’s new crime drama, Revolver, already started making the rounds last month at the 23rd Asian Film Festival of Dallas last month. That trailer is finally online with a release date now slated for August 23 in the states following its release in Korea last week. Su-young (JEON Do-yeon), a police detective who went to prison for someone else, is surprised when a mysterious woman named Yoon-sun (LIM Ji-yeon) arrives to collect her on her day of release. THE TYRANT Trailer: Park Hoon-Jung’s New Miniseries Streams On Hulu Tomorrow!

What I really want is a third installment of The Witch from director Park Hoon-jung. As much I enjoy his work however, I’ll take what I can get, and that includes his latest four-part action thriller series, The Tyrant. When U.S. intelligence learns that the South Korean government is working on a deadly new virus under a secretive program, they demand that all research be halted immediately and that samples be turned over. However, the team is attacked and the sample is stolen by a professional killer. With everything at stake, a U.S. agent tries to retrieve the deadly sample and what ensues is a breathtaking action-packed battle between intelligence services and unknown parties. The Tyrant stars Jo Yoon-su, Cha Seung-won, Kim Seon-ho, and Kim Kang-woo. All four parts will stream simultaneously on Disney+ Korea and stateside on Hulu beginning Wednesday.

Help Leo Kei Angelos Make THE JUMP For His Latest Project!

Vietnam continues to be a place of surprise potential for action films over the last few decades. That’s not to say I know where indie director and stunt performer Leo Kei Angelos’s (“Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” Halloween Kills) new short is going, but it pays homage to the genre if the details available at his Seed And Spark campaign platform are any clue. The new short is called The Jump, and Angelos filmed it in the course of four shooting days within two weeks. Special thanks to @Olyphantastic83 for pointing me in the right direction. One of the most influential names in action cinema, Corey Yuen Kwai, reportedly passed away two years ago at the age of 71. FRIGHTFEST XXV: The Full Line-Up Is Here For The 25th Edition!

The full feature line-up is now available for the 25th edition of FrightFest, kicking off later this month as Pigeon Shrine FrightFest 2024. Tickets and passes are already available at the official website as well following the announcements of the opening and closing titles, Joanne Mitchell’s Broken Bird and Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance. Benefitting as one of several titles supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Council’s First Feature Film Initiative, the ceremony continues for Hong Kong filmgoers as we now look toward Stuntman, which opens in theaters on September 26 from Edko Films.
