New KARATE KID Movie Casts ‘American Born Chinese’ Star Ben Wang

Actor Ben Wang is taking the mantle in Jonathan Entwistle’s forthcoming installment of the Karate Kid franchise, according to THR’s Borys Kit. The announcement comes following a global casting call that kicked off last November, spearheaded by actors Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, with reportedly 10,000 candidates showing up in the first 24 hours. Per Kit’s reporting: According to studio insiders, Wang delivered a standout audition that demonstrated his deep connection to the character. It also helped that he is fluent in Mandarin and highly skilled across many forms of martial arts, including karate, wing chun/kung fu, gumdo, kempo and taekwondo. MUROMACHI BURAI: Yo Oizumi Takes On Fighting Form In Yu Irie’s Latest Novel Adaptation Coming In 2025

At least tentatively, Muromachi Burai is the name we can go on as we await the next sword slasher from Nemesis, Joker Game and Confession Of Murder director Yu Irie. The film stars Yo Oizumi (Kiba: The Fangs Of Fiction) in his first-ever action role, along with “Naniwa Danshi” member Kento Nagao (Rohan au Louvre), Akira Emoto (Egoist), Wakana Matsumoto (Pornographer: Playback), and Shinichi Tsutsumi (The Mole Song trilogy). Muromachi Burai is based on the 2016 Shincho Bunko publication, a series of novels from multi-award winning author, Ryosuke Kakine. BADLANDS: ‘Prey’ Director Developing New Standalone ‘Predator’ Movie

Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey was an engrossing hit in 2022 upon its release on Hulu, and the word now is that he’s on board with another standalone film in the Predator universe this time with Badlands from 20th Century Studios. He is still in development with a sequel to Prey as well which could see actress Amber Midthunter reprise her role as the daring heroine that took on the intergalactic killer stalking her Commanche tribe. As for Badlands, there are no other plot or casting details with Friday’s news. Badlands and the in-development Prey sequel mark the latest potential additions to the saga since its theatrical launch of Predator from 20th Century Fox in 1987 from director John McTiernan, and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and the late Carl Weathers, and introducing late costume actor Kevin Peter Hall in the iconic title role. Worth spotlighting in my book is Officer Black Belt which comes from “Bloodhounds” shepherd, writer/director Jason Kim and announced last year with actors Kim Woo-bin and Kim Sung-kyun. The action flick is expected to arrive in the Fall of this year and we now have our first look at the latter cast member in a still from the streamer which you can view below. In an update six years in the making, Day Shift helmer J.J. Perry has been announced to adapt Red 5 Comic publication, Afterburn for the big screen. Perry replaces Carter and The Villainess director Jung Byung-gil who was previously attached to direct the film which at the time cast Fallen franchise star Gerard Butler. Instead, that spot now goes to Dave Bautista who reteams with Perry once more following their recent completion on hitman thriller, The Killer’s Game for Lionsgate. Casting also includes Samuel L.
