BEAST: Lionsgate Signals Home Release On May 8 For New MMA Action Drama

Lionsgate has announced the digital release this month of Beast, the new MMA drama starring Dan MacPherson, Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth and Bren Foster. The film previously released in select theaters on April 10 through Lionsgate’s Grindhouse Entertainment sub-label, and will roll out on EST (Electronic Sell-Through) and on VOD on May 8.

Beast is directed by Tyler Atkins from a script by Crowe and co-writer Dave Frigerio, with action sequences also by Bren Foster (Life After Fighting). The movie follow Patton (MacPherson), a former fighter-turned-family man, ex-con and fisherman who trudges back into the ONE Championship circuit to save his younger brother. Ensuing a questionable business deal with unscrupulous fight promoter Gabriel (Hemsworth), and a bittersweet reunion with his former coach, Sammy (Crowe), Patton must confront lingering years-long grievances as he gears up for the biggest fight of his life with Gabriel’s current champion, Xavier (Foster).

Rounding out the cast are Liam Hemsworth, Amy Shark, Mojean Aria, and Kelly Gale, with action sequences by Foster.
