Thanks to actors Daniel MacPherson (Land Of Bad) and Bren Foster (Life After Fighting), we now have a brief look behind-the-scenes showcasing the looks of their characters in the film, including a polaroid of a bruised MacPherson which you can see in the first slide of his most recent Instagram post from over the weekend. The post comes a few weeks after Foster also teased his role in a seperate post hinting with the caption reading in part “New hair, new character, new movie, new fights!!…”. Filming took place over the weekend set against the backdrop of an event at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, as announced last Fall. Atkins directs a cast led by MacPherson, Foster, and Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator), from […]
Streaming Sleepers: Bren Foster’s LIFE AFTER FIGHTING Fights On Via Tubi!
I can say with full certainty that actor and filmmaker Bren Foster’s new movie, Life After Fighting, is one of this year’s best watches among the martial arts fandom. And, plenty would agree. The film opened in the U.S. on digital over the summer and enjoyed festive screenings for select audiences in the U.S. as well as locally in Australia where Foster is based. The action-packed drama sets off when an ex-champion-turned-teacher is forced to confront a chilling revelation in his neighborhood when two of his students go missing. The story intensifies well into the second half when our hero finds himself confronting the odds, turning his school into ground zero for the ultimate battle against a small army of child traffickers. Crucial to its success, in my view at least, is the heightened drama that sets in when the stakes are raised. The tangible subject matter is easily something […]
A Case For Better Action Movies: In LIFE AFTER FIGHTING, Bren Foster Understood The Assignment
Life After Fighting is now available in select theaters and on digital from Vertical Entertainment 5.5 min. read Small scale, independent martial arts action movies are at the heart of what I cover on this platform. It takes a lot of effort to make these kinds of films happen, and in doing so, it also takes a great deal of talent and creative moxie to not only make these movies, but to make them fantastic, and memorable. I’m pretty picky about these movies too, having come up from supporting a number of indie action stunt teams in the last twenty years, and subsequently cutting my teeth as a film critic on both sides of the scrutiny fence. As such, I’m not inflexible as a fan of the genre, but I know what I want, and equally, what I don’t want. This was still the case last year when actor and […]
LIFE AFTER FIGHTING: Bren Foster Goes Ballistic On Child Traffickers In The Official Trailer
Actor and martial artist Bren Foster (TNT’s “The Last Ship) is finally making headway this week with the official trailer launch for action thriller, Life After Fighting. Foster stars in his directorial debut from a script he penned and produced, with Cassie Howarth, Luke Ford and Annabelle Stephenson also starring. Retired martial arts world champion, Alex Faulkner, has settled into a simple life, when the disappearance of two of his students leads to an unthinkable discovery close to home. Just when all hope of finding the children is lost, he locates the imprisoned girls and unsurfaces an international child trafficking operation, which draws him back into the fight of his life against those behind it. Life After Fighting will release in Australia theatrically, and internationally on June 7. Vertical Entertainment is partnering with Spinning Plates, Foster’s shared production label with producer Navid Bahadori. The official trailer was revealed exclusively on […]
LIFE AFTER FIGHTING: Bren Foster Mean-Mugs New Key Art For Summer Martial Arts Action Thriller Debut
It’s been close to a year since the campaign began for actor and martial artist Bren Foster’s directorial debut, Life After Fighting. Foster directs from his script the story of Alex, a martial arts teacher whose life takes a dark turn as he finds himself treading into the human trafficking underworld in hopes of rescuing his two kidnapped students. Life After Fighting also stars Cassie Howarth, Annabelle Stephenson, and Luke Ford. Details are scarce at the moment but the plan is for an early June theatrical window coupled with digital and on-demand rollouts in North America and the UK. The film will definitely see a theatrical release in its home region in Australia. Posters are now making the rounds as well, and special thanks to Foster for sending these to us. Check out the ink below, and follow the movie on Instagram.
LIFE AFTER FIGHTING: Bren Foster Lays Waste To Child Traffickers In The First Trailer
Well, it’s been a bit of a day off from the website on Friday at least but now I get to kick off the weekend with the first trailer now online for Life After Fighting. The film marks the directorial debut for actor and martial artist Bren Foster who stars in the film from his own script. Foster plays a martial arts teacher whose life takes a dark turn as he finds himself treading into the human trafficking underworld in hopes of rescuing his two kidnapped students. It was back in mid-August last year during an Art Of Action episide when Foster spoke more about the film and you’re welcome to tap here to have a watch. As for the trailer, can no one ever say that Foster doesn’t go out of his way to deliver the goods in the fresh footage we’re getting. The first minute-and-a-half certainly boils things […]
