BLACK SALT Unleashes His Wushu Arsenal In A Spectacular New Trailer!

It’s been a while since Blade, and with a Black Panther film taking its sweet time at Marvel, the indie scene is brewing once again, now toward the appeal of at least one other fresh new African-American lead superhero character in the form of the new upcoming shortfilm, Black Salt. Originally crowdfunded at the top of the year, the short wrapped after a few weeks of shooting this past summer before offering a small glimpse of what fans can expect from the live-action iteration of the original comic from creator/producer Owen Ratliff and screenwriter Phillip Daay with Ben Ramsey in the director’s chair. Fast forward a month-and-a-half later, and now we have some fresh new footage to share, featuring fully-fledged leading man Kinyumba Mutakabbir in a role that is clearly ready for some spectacular feature-length treatment!

SYNOPSIS:

Black Salt is a live-action short film project. With only four days left the clock ticks down towards a new world holocaust. The only thing standing in its path is Interpol’s deadliest black-ops agent, Samuel Tharpe. Sam hunts down the path of a game-changing weapon of mass destruction called the Exterminatus. He follows hot on its trail deep into the ancient land of China where he must seek aid from the Abbot at the Shaolin Temple. An evil Yakuza master stole the Exterminatus and seeks to use it in the East. Sam must prove his worthiness by fighting one of the Temple’s most skilled monks. Prepared to lay down his own life in exchange for the lives of his family and the world, Sam steps forward and engages in combat. Only his long-past training by the Shaolin master, Yu Bai Shek will make him a worthy hero.

Mutakabbir is joined by action cinema legend James Lew (The Perfect Weapon, Lethal Weapon 4, Three Bullets) as the Shaolin master, and Michelle Lee (Mutant Hurlant Chronicles, Mortal Kombat Legacy Season 2) as the elusive femme fatale, Horse Ripper. Also starring are Arnold Chon (Mortal Kombat Conquest, Wake Of Death), Panuvat Anthony Nanakornpanom (Broken Path, Iron Man 3) and Sheena Chou (The Last Ship, Meet The Spartans), with fight choreography by Ron Yuan (Black And White 2: The Dawn Of Justice 3D, Drive, Fast And Furious). Witness the hard-hitting, butterfly twisting, 720-degree kicking insanity in the new trailer below and stay tuned for further info!
