New stills are out for Rupert Sanders’s The Crow as Lionsgate plots a June 7 release. The film stars Bill Skarsgård, FKA twigs and Danny Huston in a story based on the hit graphic novel by James O’Barr. Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right. The film is written and directed by Tokyo-based actor, stunt performer and filmmaker Chuck Johnson who just completed the first full rough edit of the film following pre-production a little over a year ago, and rolling cameras late last year. The new sci-fi thriller also stars Laurence Fishburne (John Wick films, The Matrix trilogy) and Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate, “The Last Of Us”). When astronaut Sam Walker (Mara) returns from her first space mission, she’s found miraculously alive in a punctured capsule floating deep off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Netflix’s K-content announcement is making the rounds these days. Worth spotlighting in my book is Officer Black Belt which comes from “Bloodhounds” shepherd, writer/director Jason Kim and announced last year with actors Kim Woo-bin and Kim Sung-kyun. The action flick is expected to arrive in the Fall of this year and we now have our first look at the latter cast member in a still from the streamer which you can view below. This one looks like it’s gonna go as hard as the director’s hit show did for sure, or maybe even harder – at least one can hope. Panda Plan is the name of the next Jackie Chan headlining action adventure, previously touted in August as “Project P” following suit from the actor’s rollicking 1983 Golden Harvest hit, Project A, and its 1987 sequel. Panda Plan sees Chan in the role of a version of himself – an international action star forced to get involved in a daring rescue mission when a Middle Eastern tycoon hatches a plan to kidnap baby pandas from China zoo, including a rare panda with a dark circle around just one eye. A trio of first look stills are now up for Ash, the new sci-fi thriller featuring Eiza Gonzalez and Aaron Paul. The film is directed by Flying Lotus (Kuso) and based on an original screenplay written by Jonni Remmler. A title change remains in order for Kim Sung-hoon’s newest film starring Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon. For this, we turn to the official poster art treatments, as well as a batch of stills for Unofficial Operation, which opens in South Korean cinemas on August 2 from Showbox. Ha plays a diplomat thrust into the turmoil of the war-torn streets of 1986 Beirut when he’s assigned to rescue another diplomat who was kidnapped and taken hostage two years earlier.
