WARRIORS: Gavin O’Connor, Lionsgate Will Return To The Octagon To Spin-Off His 2011 Cult MMA Hit Drama

Director Gavin O’Connor is partnering with Lionsgate for a television spin-off based on 2011 sports drama, Warrior. O’Connor, whose credits also include Miracle and The Way Back, confirmed as much in an interview with Discussing Film’s Michael Slavin on Tuesday. The reveal for the new show, Warriors, came during a portion of the interview regarding movie sequel prospects where O’Connor expressed having difficulty on “how to do it and make it better than the first one”, adding further on “…I knew if I couldn’t make a better movie, or at least make something that had some kind of artistic merit that’s worth asking people to spend money to go see it, I just didn’t want to like fucking prostitute myself. Crunchyroll and Adult Swim have shared further details on their project set in the beloved Blade Runner universe, to air in the fall. The series is produced by Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo), and directed by Shinji Aramaki (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Fullmetal Alchemist, Ultraman [Manga] ) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Ultraman [Manga] ). Sola Digital Arts is the animation studio. The show, originally announced in 2018, will be available on Crunchyroll with Japanese Voice-Over and English Subtitles. Adult Swim will carry the dubbed series on it’s Toonami block., and will run for 13 episodes of 30 minutes each. I haven’t been able to catch Big Bad Wolves, so I don’t have a reference to go by when discussing anything prior to the latest solo-directing work of that film’s co-helmer, Navot Papushado. Going forward, I can only speak instinctively and defer to my natural responses for a film like Gunpowder Milkshake, an assassin thriller that undoubtedly attempts at following a formula to success. The uncertainty here, really, is that the formula isn’t its own which kind of makes things a bit problematic, even for a genre of film that’s about as escapable as breathing or standing. Netflix to Premiere New BAKI HANMA Anime This Fall

It was recently revealed by Weekly Shonen Champion magazine that streaming service Netflix will premiere the new Baki Hanma Anime this fall. The latest in the Baki the Grappler series, and sequel to recent Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen, continue the story of the “strongest parent-child brawl in the history of the world” as referenced in the original manga. Additionally, Weekly Shonen Champion recently released a special website to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the manga in September. On this site, users can submit cosplay, videos, original art and manga to enter a fan art contest, closing August 31. The last twenty years have been fruitful for director Kimo Stamboel who continues to garner a good share of ceremony for his ventures in genre cinema, notably of the horror variety. The Macabre, Killers and Headshot co-helmer’s new film, The Queen Of Black Magic, is on track to hit AMC’s Shudder streamer on January 28, and the official trailer and key art are finally making the rounds. The Queen Of Black Magic is Stamboel’s latest partnership with Joko Anwar (Satan’s Slaves, Gundala, Impetigore), and serves as the latest incarnation of Liliek Sudjio’s 1981 horror classic of the same name. To say that Season 3 of COBRA KAI was highly anticipated would be a sheer understatement, as the continuation of this ‘karate saga’ has created incredible momentum since this series was first released in 2018. One of the key strengths of the series is its pacing, and there isn’t a complete reliance on exposition, despite the historical importance of the prior cinematic trilogy. Note some minor spoilers will be presented below: Season 3 commences right after the surprisingly brutal school fight at the end of Season 2.
