WARRIOR: Cinemax’s Hit Series Has Some Unfinished Business In Season Two This October

As gutting as it was when many of us learned that Cinemax would be axing its original programming from its slate, it was a pill we all had to swallow. The good news, however, is that while Gangs Of London has a new home, the HBO network subsidiary is still taking to fans of their hit series, Warrior, with the promise of a TV and MaxGo.com October premiere date for the second season. Here’s the gist of it: The series follows Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a hatchet man for the Hop Wei, one of Chinatown’s most powerful Tongs (Chinese organized crime family). LUCIFER: Watch The All New Official Trailer For Season Five Of The Hit Series

Just when you thought it was all over at some point in the past year, Netflix found fruit in the prospective return of actor Tom Ellis and a deal that guarantees a promising new season of dark fantasy, action and tongue-in-cheek banter in the hit series, Lucifer. The official trailer is now online for the season five premiere slated for August 21 – 16 episodes to be split in half, reportedly – and you can check it out above. The show also stars Lauren German, Leslie Ann-Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Rachel Harris, Aimee Garcia and Tricia Helfer.

THE BATMAN Is Getting An HBO Max Spin-Off Series From Matt Reeves

HBO Max is readying yet another addition to the collection of spin-off shows in the Batman franchise. It doesn’t have a title yet, but Friday’s announcement from the streamer describes it as “an original DC drama set in the Gotham City police department”, set in the same universe as the upcoming film, The Batman, from director Matt Reeves. The groundbreaking television series to be written by Winter is set in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman feature film and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms. Sky series Gangs Of London is currently slated for a summer Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD release in the U.K. as reported a few days ago, but the show isn’t done making headlines this week. The hit crime series, about the son of a gangster who vows retribution amidst the turmoil and upheaval within London’s seedy criminal and political underbelly, is now on par for a second season, and will be co-produced by AMC. The bell has officially rung as of Wednesday for Sky Original series, Gangs Of London. The series marks the latest foray for filmmaker Gareth Evans (Apostle) since his cult ascension among the action fandom proliferating then-burgeoning star Iko Uwais ten years ago. Evans is rejoined by noted cinematographer Matt Flannery, both who created the nine-part action drama which centers on a young crime org heir who sets out to restore order among the gangs while hunting his father’s mysterious killer. ONE PIECE Manga Lands Ten-Episode Live-Action Series At Netflix

A ten-episode live-action rendition of One Piece found a new home at Netflix on Wednesday according to trade news and a press announcement from the streamer. The news comes following word that broke in July of 2017 that a live-action series was in the works from Shueisha, and Marty Adelstein’s Tomorrow Studios, the same company involved with the current serial production of Cowboy Bebop – also for the streamer. A multitude of adventures outline One Piece which took off as a hit manga beginning in 1997. The franchise expanded itself greatly into television and original video animes with its story centered on Monkey D. Luffy and his epic, action-packed and sprawling quest to find said ‘piece’ and claim the title of “King Of The Pirates”. HBO Max Head Signals End Of Original Content Production For Cinemax

A new report at Deadline on Wednesday cites HBO Max Chief Content Officer who told the crowd at this year’s Television Critics Association that Cinemax would not be producing any more original content. The word is also that original shows already on Cinemax would not be carried over to the new SVOD service which officially announced part of its slate and pricing late last year. Set in 1870s San Francisco, Warrior debuted last April, shepherded by exec producers Shannon Lee and co-creators Justin Lin, Jonathan Tropper and Danielle Woodrow, and starring Andrew Koji (upcoming Snake Eyes: G.I. William Lauren and Glenn Davis are taking their cues from the work of author Jonathan Maberry with action horror sci-fi, V Wars. All ten episodes are set to premiere on December 5 on Netflix from whom we now take a gander at the first series trailer. Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.

Brazilian folklore stories will be coming to the small screen in an upcoming Netflix original series. Invisible City has begun production in Brazil. This series will be director Carlos Saldanha’s Netflix debut. You might know the name Chuck Palahniuk as the author of the books Fight Club and Choke were based on. But now one of his novels is being adapted for TV. Invisible Monsters, published in 1999, has been optioned by Fabrik Entertainment. Jennifer Yale will be adapting the novel. Yale has written for Outlander, Legion, and Dexter. The executive producers will be Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate, the CEO and President of Fabrik respectively. In a statement, Bastin and Aouate said, “We are delighted to bring to life a book that has moved readers and built a devoted global following over the past two decades. Comic book creator Dennis Liu’s 2015 release, Raising Dion, finally comes to life with the first official trailer and poster for the new Netflix series. Carol Barbee created and serves as exec producer with Liu, and with co-star Michael B. Jordan for the new nine-episode fantasy drama streaming on October 4. Raising Dion follows the story of a woman named Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (newcomer Ja’Siah Young) after the death of her husband, Mark (Michael B. Jordan). The normal dramas of raising a son as a single mom are amplified when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. Nicole must now keep her son’s gifts secret with the help of Mark’s best friend Pat (Jason Ritter), and protect Dion from antagonists out to exploit him while figuring out the origin of his abilities.
