Donnie Yen In Talks To Star In CROUCHING TIGER Sequel
There is no word yet on who is set to helm the upcoming film, Silver Vase, Iron Knight since director Ronny Yu backed out a few weeks ago. But the word is now that as busy as Donnie Yen is these days while working on the upcoming overbudgeted 3D reboot of Iceman Cometh, is he is also set to star in the aforementioned sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which is slated to begin filming this May, with a screenplay by John Fusco.
Yen had the following to say with regard to the overall possibility of accepting the role:
“I would certainly consider carefully, but there are two things that I am concerned about: firstly, my schedule for the year is really packed, and secondly, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is considered a classic so I feel pressured if I were to act in its sequel.
Actress and international action starlet Michelle Yeoh is also set to star in the upcoming film to reprise her role from the first film.
The Weinstein Company recently won the rights to Chinese author Wang Du Lu’s pentalogy of books on which the fourth and fifth, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Silver Vase, Iron Knight”, respectively, are based. If Donnie Yen agrees to accept the role, then it will be a definitive reunion between him, Yeoh, and legendary martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping, since their work on the 1994 Hong Kong action classic, Wing Chun.

OMG. This would be prophetic, if he did this role. I've been waiting for Donnie and Michelle to do another film together for awhile! And I was just thinking a few days ago, what Donnie's acting career would have been like if he had been in movies like The Matrix Trilogy and Crounching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Donnie, please do this role. You and Michelle work so well together. Knowing this would ease some of the pressure. We know you would bring your own brand to whatever role you played! And it would be awesome! It would be great!
