EFM 2017: José Padilha’s Untitled ENTEBBE Project Wraps Filming Ahead Of Berlin For Lionsgate

Narcos and Elite Squad helmer José Padilha’s newest taut political thrilller is officially taking the market stage after wrapping principal photography in the U.K. and in Malta. Tentatively named the Untitled Entebbe Project for Participant Media and Working Title Films, Lionsgate is presenting the film to sell to non-output territories at the European Film Market this week in Berlin as one of two titles on its slate with the other being alien invasion sci-fi, Captive State, as of last month.

Academy Award® nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Golden Globe Award nominee Daniel Brühl (Captain America: Civil War) star in the film from a screenplay by Gregory Burke, bringing to focus the longstanding conflict between Israel and Palestine through the story of a daring military rescue following the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight en route from Tel Aviv to Paris. Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes), Ben Schnetzer (Snowden), Lior Ashkenazi (Footnote), and Denis Ménochet (Inglourious Basterds) round out the film’s international cast.

Participant Media who financed through Amblin Partners, produced the film with Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and producers Kate Solomon, Michelle Wright and Ron Halpern. Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King are executive producing with Olivier Courson, Jean-Claude Darmon, Angela Morrison, Liza Chasin, and Jo Burn.

Focus Features will release the film in North America while eOne slates the film for releases United Kingdom, Australia/New Zealand, Spain and throughout the Benelux union.
