International action star Donnie Yen took to Facebook to officially announce the completion of principal photography for the second of his now upcoming two-part time travel kung fu epic, Iceman 3D. The news comes just over a year after beginning filming for what was once meant to be one film before budgetary concerns and other complications elongated an already grueling schedule. The news also comes ahead of Yen’s most recent highly anticipated film, The Monkey King 3D, which domestically releases later this month.

A remake of the 1989 single film originally directed by Clarence Fok, the new film from helmer Law Wing-Cheong also stars Eva Huang, Simon Yam, Wang Baoqiang and Yu Kang, with Benny Chan, Lo Hoi-Pang and Lam Suet. The story begins its first part with Yen starring as a Ming Dynasty palace guard who is framed for murder and must battle his three sworn brothers in modern-day combat 400 years later.

Both films bows across Asia between April 4, 2014 and December with further releases pending, including a date for part one in North America courtesy of Well Go USA.
In other news, it is not too clear as of late regarding recent breaking news on Yen’s previously-reported participation in Yuen Woo-Ping’s forthcoming film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2: The Green Destiny from TWC. However, fans can expect to see Yen alongside Baoqiang once again soon in director Teddy Chan‘s upcoming martial arts crime thriller, Kung Fu Killer, which is currently in post production.
Well Go USA will also open North American doors to Law‘s latest completed period kung fu thriller, The Wrath Of Vajra on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 18, 2014.
