IN TANDEM: Survival Thriller Adds Cast, Announces U.S. Location Production Wrap
Survival thriller In Tandem has wrapped principal photography as of Tuesday on location in Montana and Oregon. Swiss filmmaker Luc Walpoth (Dead Money, Peripheric Love) directed the feature which stars Emile Hirsch (Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Into the Wild) who also makes his feature writing debut on the script, and Benjamin Norris (ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever,” Disney+’s “Andor”).
In Tandem follows two former high school pals who reconnect at a rock-climbing gym. Inspired by the award-winning documentary The Dawn Wall, they decide to climb a real mountain together, despite the fact that they lack any real-world climbing experience. While dangling off the side of a cliff, their past conflicts begin to emerge, though they are forced to rely on one another to survive.
The film also features appearances by climbing icons Alex Honnold (Academy Award-winning documentary Free Solo) and Brette Harrington (The Alpinist). Giovanni J. Guidotti produced the film for Vanitas Vanitatum Entertainment (VVE) next to Dwjuan Fox of Decipher Entertainment. VVE fully financed the project as well.
“In Tandem is a story that explores the limits of trust, endurance, and survival at extreme altitudes,” said Guidotti. “Working alongside the exceptional talents of Benjamin, Emile, and Luc has been an unforgettable experience – I’m thrilled to bring this audacious, nail-biting, action-packed thriller to life.”
Added Walpoth, “When Emile first brought me the script, I knew immediately that this was a story I had to tell. Here was a film that dared to explore the messy, complicated nature of male friendship through the lens of physical and emotional vulnerability – two men literally hanging by a thread, forced to confront not just the mountain, but themselves. It’s been an incredible journey bringing this vision to life with such a remarkable cast and team, all set against the breathtaking canvas of the American West.”
Norris is repped by Paradigm Talent Agency and Strig Artist Management; Hirsch is repped by UTA and Stride Management; Walpoth is repped by Source Management and Production.
