Johnson And Hart Gear Up For CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE

It was just a few days ago that actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted an Instagram picture indicating a pending announcement stating an upcoming announcement for a new buddy action comedy with a hugely vague hint on who his co-star would be. “…In the right lighting and camera angles, we could pass as twins.” he said, and of course that would throw almost anyone off and into an epic guessing game of who looks like the hulking actor.

Needless to say, Tuesday’s news finally stated who that actor would be in the form of someone anyone would least expect, with word from Variety that comedian and actor Kevin Hart would be starring alongside Johnson in Dodgeball helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber‘s Central Intelligence, which will start filming next Spring for New Line Cinema. Several versions of the developing script are underway between Thurber, and writing duos Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen, and Sean Anders and John Morris, which will star Hart as an accountant who, on the eve of his high school reunion is coerced into selling classified military secrets at the behest of his former bullying victim, now a CIA contract killer, played by Johnson. Scott Stuber, Peter Principato and Paul Young are producing with Ed Helms serving as executive producer.

If you’ve seen Ride Along this year and action comedies of this kind are your thing, then Central Intelligence might suit you best. It’s a great gig for Hart as a project that sells his caliber as an actor who can drive laughter, and it will be interesting to see how Johnson plays along as well, as flexible an actor as he always aspires to be.

Central Intelligence doesn’t have a release date just yet, and other casting info is still pending, so stay tuned for more info. In the meantime, Hart is currently on the way with Ride Along 2 set for January 15, 2016, while Johnson, recently cast as Black Adam in New Line’s 2019 release of Shazam will return to the big screen next April in Furious 7.

Stay tuned for more info!
