KUNG FU ROOKIE Exclusive Clip: Watch As Timur Baktybayev Cleans These Streets!
Film Combat Syndicate can present an exclusive clip from Kazakh action comedy, Kung Fu Rookie. Aman Ergaziyev directs this fan-attributed riff on action legend Jackie Chan, with the cast is led by burgeoning screen talent, actor and producer Timur Baktybayev, along with Janelle Sergazina, and Kuandyk Shakyrzhanov.
Country bumpkin Timuchin comes to the city to enroll in the police academy. There he is pranked by a lovely young woman who eventually cottons to his courtship. When they run afoul of local gangsters his Dudley Do-Right persona and studied obsession with martial arts send him on a bare-fisted mission to thwart the baddies and rescue his damsel in distress. This inspired homage to Jackie Chan by way of urban Kazakhstan is a boisterous rollercoaster ride of old school action movie thrills, spills and other hilarious antics.
Kung Fu Rookie also stars Irina Azhmukhamedova, and Kuat Khamitov, along with Erkebulan Toktar, Talgat Duisenov, and Riskul Konakbaev.
The clip below is the film’s introductory fight sequence in which Baktybayev’s character, Timuchin, having just arrived in town to help with his uncle’s grocery stall, is forced to contend with a gang of irksome hooligans led by local thug, Arsen, played by Konakbaev. Timuchin is already accompanied by the beautiful Alua (Sergazina) as the incident unfolds, and the result is what you’d expect if you know the formula by now.
Kung Fu Rookie arrives on VoD and Digital on March 14 from Omnibus Entertainment. Check out the clip below and tap here for my review.
