KUNG FU WESTERN: BTS Featurette Spotlights Indie Martial Arts Short With Feature Aspirations
Film duo Kailani D’Amour and Tin Huyen Pham are under way with Kung Fu Western, a cross-genre proof of concept they hope will spur the production of a full feature in local Australia. The directors have each worked on their own projects in years prior and share one co-helm credit for 2023 short drama, Ezri, making Kung Fu Western a reunion with bigger potential.
This proof of concept follows a Traveller who enters an isolated bar desperately in need of water but is turned away. He stumbles upon a familiar face… an English convict from rioters that murdered his father. A brawl breaks out with guns, knives and vomit. The Traveller fights his way through to the owner, squeezing out a name and a location that will set him on a path for vengeance…
Kung Fu Western has an official website up and running that explores the concept in its progression as D’Amour and Pham work toward the goal of a feature. That includes a behind the scenes featurette with an insightful look into how they’re making Kung Fu Western a reality. Check it out via The Project:
