Update 2.8.25: Apparently THR dropped the ball. The word as of Saturday morning is that no one at XYZ Films was aware of the project ahead of EFM. This comes by way of an update from Todd Brown who is one of the partners of the sales outlet. I am also told that even Timo himself is unfamiliar with this project.

Earlier: The next installment of the European Film Market is right around away and for this, it’s a great day to report that Indonesian action is back on the table with Neon Blood, according to a listicle of projects being pitched in a curtain raiser by THR’s Scott Roxborough:

The Raid superstar Uwais re-teams with his The Night Comes For Us director Tjahjantoa in this hyper-violent cyberpunk actioner about a rogue cop and a hacker who team up to take down a futuristic crime syndicate. Like a bone-crunching kick to the face this one should hit perfectly for mainstream buyers and streamers alike.

XYZ Films is handling international sales on the new action thriller which reunites Timo Tjahjanto and Iko Uwais in the next and latest chapter of their careers since partnering on 2018’s The Night Comes For Us. The film is also circling actress Jessica Henwick, best known for her roles in Netflix series “Iron Fist,” as well as Paramount Pictures’s Love and Monsters, and Warner Bros.’s The Matrix Resurrections, and Apple TV+ series “Silo”.

Tjahjanto ended 2024 in fine fashion last year with hit Netflix action thriller, The Shadow Strays, and is currently in post-production on Nobody 2 which returns Bob Odenkirk to the screen. Uwais will next appear in Liam O’Donnell’s Skyline: Warpath, and is also on deck after launching Uwais Pictures last month with a pair of titles, including his feature directorial debut, Timur, and Sidharta Tata’s martial arts thriller, Ikatan Darah (a.k.a. Blood Bond).
