New Webseries THE WAY Blends Cerebral Thriller With Bruce Lee Ethos

I’ve often mentioned Florida’s independent action industry in previous reports and things have since continued brewing with features well on their way from various aspiring directors that I know of. And this week, I can now add another to the list of folks I’ve covered with multifaceted actor and independent filmmaker Ronny Vega who newly unveiled his zero-budgeted online action series titled, The Way.

A 14-year purveyor of Jeet Kune Do under Bruce Lee disciple Richard Bustillo, Vega based his concept for the series on formatting each episode as interwoven stories written with a message rooted in Lee’s history, his life philosophy and resounding legacy. Accordingly, the late martial artist and film sensation would also shape Vega aspirations to pursue multiple aspects of film for well over a decade now. “My mother and father were martial artists,” he says. “When I was five, my father would always put Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon. It inspired me as a child to do martial arts, and when I turned 9, he bought me one of the first VHS cameras that came out in the 80’s, which me and my brothers used to make a lot of our own movies with. I loved filmmaking the moment he bought that camera.”.
The Way launched a new pilot episode in January with a few more shortfilm episodes to arrive between now and September following the currently-developing second season titled The Way: Fighters Twitch, starring Khalil Barnett who also co-writes the series. Vega‘s indie banner, Envizion Films is seeking bigger budgets and the prospects of on-demand distribution for the series.

Watch the series teasers for The Way and The Way: Fighter’s Twitch in the following embeds where you can also subscribe to the channel, and follow the series on Facebook

as well.

DESCRIPTION:

THE WAY is a story of introspection into the foundational ideas of Martial Arts. It follows as two trained fighters become ensnared in a situation that forces them to reevaluate their values and remember the life defining message of their training. Keano Vega is an international martial arts film star and Stephane Colier is a world class MMA sensation. Vega calls out Colier, and the MMA star responds with great prejudice and ego. The two face each other (and their respective demons) in an underground illegal fight circuit wherein not only are their reputations at stake, but their lives as well.
