STUNTMAN Official Trailer Revealed For The Leung Brothers’ New Action Drama
Plans for a select screenings are underway in Hong Kong with the upcoming release of Stuntman, the new riveting filmmaking drama from directing duo Herbert and Albert Leung. Those screenings are set to take place on Friday and Saturday before the film’s wider release on September 26 from Edko Films.
The official trailer is now up and running and diving (more or less) well into the dramatic upheaval centered on two generations of stunt professionals. If you love Hong Kong cinema as much as the next fan, then chances are you’ve definitely seen some of the compelling documentaries over the years, which is why this film’s tagline might read a little familiar, particularly if you’ve seen documentatian John Wei’s work.
At any rate, Stuntman will also make its way around the festivals following its regional releases. This especially goes for anyone lining up for seats for this year’s 44th edition of the Hawai’i International Film Festival where Stuntman will make its debut case outside Hong Kong SAR China.
Read on for the festival notes below and don’t miss the official trailer just beneath.
From twin actor/directors Albert and Herbert Leung comes this drama about a washed-up stunt choreographer named Lee Sam, who makes a last go of it when asked by a veteran director to help him on his last action movie.
A young, ambitious stuntman Lee Sai Long, gets caught up in the conflict between the choreographer and the movie’s star, Leung Chi Wai, his former protégé turned rival. Complicating matters is Sam”s relationship with an estranged daughter about to be married.
When the production faces a budget crisis, and they consider scrapping an elaborate robbery heist scene, Sam insists on executing the action sequence using his old-school methods. Will his plan help reclaim his former glory that was his during the time of Hong Kong kung fu cinema of the 1980s?
A love letter to Hong Kong action cinema, HIFF is proud to present this directorial debut from the Leung brothers.
Albert and Herbert Leung will be in attendance for a special post-screening Q&A.
