24: LEGACY Casts Corey Hawkins To Star!

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was on the road with father and actor Donald Sutherland late last year to promote his latest western pic, Forsaken. At the time, he made it pretty clear following Fox’s renewal announcement of the hit series, 24, that he was done with the show, which left things in the air as to who would replace him. Fast forward six months later and the trades, including Variety, are out and about with news that Non-Stop and AMC’s The Walking Dead co-star, and Straight Outta Compton star, actor Corey Hawkins is taking the reigns for the impending season premiere of 24: Legacy. FX is taking viewers on a gruesome and bloody trip back to the Middles Ages with Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter‘s next vengeful endeavor, The Bastard Executioner. The promotional campaign has already begun ahead of the two-hour series premiere on September 15 with a slate of TV spots and more featuring Aussie stage actor Lee Jones in the title role. The Bastard Executioner is a blood-soaked, medieval epic that tells the story of Wilkin Brattle, a 14th century warrior, whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of another man: a journeyman executioner. Fox Series '24' Gets A 2016 Spin-Off

Plans have been up in the air for a while now with regard to the future of Fox’s long-running series, 24, particularly with the notion that principle actor Kiefer Sutherland might not be returning to the scene as counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer. That said, this week brings news that the studio is well underway with plans to revive the show in the same limited series fashion as last year’s 24: Live Another Day, as confirmed by TVLine over the weekend. The new show will feature a new twentysomething male lead alongside another older female agent, as well as keep the “real-time” element so familiarly known to fans of the current series. Manny Coto and Evan Katz will return to serve as writers and executive producers on the new series that may or may not see Sutherland and actress Yvonne Strahovski return as possible guest stars.
