ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Gets The Reboot Treatment

Deadline is reporting that producer Joel Silver is joining forces between his production company, Silver Pictures, and Studio Canal to revive the classic 1981 post apocalyptic sci-fi action thriller, Escape From New York. The reboot will reportedly be the set-up for a new trilogy, with Silver producing along with Andrew Rona, and executive vice president of Silver Pictures, Alex Heineman serving as executive producer. Joe: Retaliation and its upcoming release, word has stirred about on the internet regarding the filmmaker’s participation in the potential reboot for Masters Of The Universe, the 1987 science fiction fantasy action adventure feature film based on the successful toy and animated television series. Filmmaker Oliver Hollingdale took to Facebook this afternoon to announce a challenge to Dredd fans who have been long waiting for either the development of a sequel, or fan films by independent filmmakers of recent. Late last year, Hollingdale began pre-production of his inspired take on the comic-book movie character, built off the envisioned look in the 2012 film from director Pete Travis. A new trailer was released online last week for director Jin Hyoung-tae’s upcoming noir Korean gangster action thriller, Good Friends (tentatively titled “Sweet Dream” earlier in production). Jun Kaname Gets The Scoop Straight From History In TIME SCOOP HUNTER

Far East Films recently forwarded a teaser for director Hiroyuki Nakao’s latest film, Time Scoop Hunters (タイムスクープハンター), based on a Japanese NHK drama of the same name. The film will star Jun Kaname, Anne Watanabe, Kaho, Ken Utsui and Saburo Tokito, and will be released this summer on August 31, 2013. SYNOPSIS: Yuichi Kaname (Jun Kaname) works as a time scoop hunter for the Time Scoop Company. The company exists sometime in the future and uses time travelling techniques to send its employees into the past to record how they live. Yuichi works with time navigator partner Minami Furuhashi (Anne Watanabe). Every once in a while, you come across a gem on the internet. Such is the case with the first season of the new webseries from Derptastic Films, Kung Fu Jonny, created in part by Jericho Rain, and starring co-creators/fight choreographers Jon Rodriquez and Kevin Czarneki. The series also stars Ashley Turkowski, musician Professor Kliq and Dana Dajani, and is directed by Marvin Glass, Malcolm Raay and co-writers/fight co-choreographers Eric Reithel and editor/co-star Andrew Hempfling. From the credits alone, you can pretty much tell that it was a group effort. And for a project that began nearly four years ago and just released this year, it still looks very fresh and exciting to look at. The new trailer for the upcoming film, SWITCH, is now available online, starring Hong Kong Canto-pop singer, producer and Hong Kong action star Andy Lau, along with Lin Chi-Ling, Zhang Jingchu and Tong Dawei and directed by Jay Sun. SWITCH is described as a slick new 3D espionage spy thriller about a special agent and an insurance company employee who set out on a mission to protect a famous piece of artwork. After the release of the international trailer last year, the movie underwent several critical hurdles that crippled its scheduled October 2012 release, dealing with reshoots, music, special effects and real world situations that were impacting the film’s progress with the censorship board, among other things. A new trailer has been released for the new epic middle earth action adventure thriller, VIKINGDOM: THE BLOOD ECLIPSE, based on a script by James Coyne and directed by Yusry Abd Halim. The film stars Dominic Purcell as a forgotten king named Eirick who is tasked to defeat a mean and evil god of thunder named Thor, bent on ruling mankind, played by Conan Stevens. Coming Soon has unveiled a new teaser trailer for the upcoming film, Star Trek: Into Darkness. The film is the second in a slate of new Star Trek films by director and co-producer J.J. As was the unfortunate case for the loser in the following stunt action clip featuring UK-based SG Action members Sam Ingram and John Harkins in a duel attributed to the Mortal Kombat video game, directed by SG Action stunt perfomer and choreographer Martin Wan. Twitch unveiled the latest new and official poster for the upcoming Vietnamese martial arts gangster thriller, Bụi Đời Chợ Lớn (a.k.a. Cho Lon). From the team that brought you Clash and The Rebel, Bụi Đời Chợ Lớn is described as an epic gangster story that takes place in a town in Saigon, depicting the lives of four intersecting main characters played by Johnny Trí Nguyễn (who is also serving as action director), Hoàng Phúc, Long Điền and Hà Hiền in a 24-hour period. A new trailer and poster have been unveiled for the upcoming sci-fi fantasy action adventure thriller, AFTER EARTH, due out in theaters June 7, 2013. It stars Will Smith and Jaden Smith as a father and son who crashland onto newly-evolved Earth, and are forced to survive the remnants of catastrophic events on a planet that was once inhabited by humans. The film also stars Isabelle Fuhrman, Kristofer Hivju, Gabriel Caste, Zoe Kravitz, Sophie Okonedo, David Denman, Lincoln Lewis and Lauryn Smith. Will Smith co-produced the film along with James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Ryan Kavanaugh. Gary Whitta and Stephen Gahgan provided the story and screenplay with co-writer and director M. Night Shyamalan.
