THE HIT LIST – February 15, 2016

Much of my weekend was spent trying to keep up with what’s been happening in Berlin with EFM. Luckily I managed to sequeze in sometime to put together The Hit List as it’s the biggest task I perform every week for you guys, and I hope you enjoy them each and everytime. Couetesy of A Hateful 8 Production Martial arts film junkies who’ve been following the indie scene online for the last several years may have come to know the folks over at Rising Tiger Films and the work they’ve been put out since 2008. One such labor of love includes the shortfilm series, Do The Damn Thing, a concept that gracefully branches itself to other creatives with Jabronie Pictures’s own actor and filmmaker Fernando Jay Huerto succeeding the project several installments later. Conceived entirely of a love for martial arts, comedy and run-on gags, all nine episodes of the Do The Damn Thing project don’t necessarily thrive on linear storytelling, but a shared universe of characters that you ultimately come to know and love. The Comic-Con uproar has since fizzled from last weekend’s electricity over many of the gems that fans got to view and observe. Simultaneously, with the event being one of the biggest, it’s also something I currently don’t get to attend since distance is reigning factor in that regard, and for this, I was kindly met with an opportunity by independent filmmaker Mark Anthony Gadia, a friend in the area who managed to visit the event for a few days and was willing to snap a few detailed and up-close photos of a few of the booths and their various exhibits, namely Legendary’s Warcraft scenery, costumes on full display for several WB/DC Entertainment properties, a quick pic of Marvel’s Agent Carter series star, actress Peggy Atwell, and more. A Friendly Visit Stirs Kung Fu Craziness In The New Romantic Action Comedy Short, LOVE LANGUAGE

Are you in the mood for a little love? A little romance? A little action and comedy? Then you are just in luck! Actor and Jabronie Pictures founder and frontman Fernando Jay Huerto stars in a new short film titled Love Language, about a man who visits a friend’s house for a get-together. His entrance is welcomed with open arms, followed by several other challenges that await him when he suddenly spots the love of his life. Love Language, produced, edited and directed by Mark Gadia, founder of Almost Good Films, is one of the latest gems circulating the independent film scene by way of its multi-award winning run during this year’s 48-Hour Film Project tour. CODENAME: SWORD is a new webseries in a collaborative effort from Almost Good Films and Jabronie Pictures. The new webseries was shot by Neil Aguilera, written, edited and directed by Mark Anthony Gadia and stars Fernando Jay Huerto and Anthony Noceda, the people who previously brought you the award winning action comedy shortfilm, RULE 43. Based on previous footage, this new webseries will bring the vitality of independent filmmaking that pays homage to the tone of dialogue and closed-quarters hand-to-hand combat seen in films like Skyfall and the Bourne films. SYNOPSIS via Mark Gadia: Agent Sword (Anthony Noceda), long thought to be dead, resurfaces after seven years in hiding.
