ALTERED CARBON Finds New Life As Netflix Anime Series

Dai Sato, the man behind anime classics Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo is now shepherding efforts to bring Altered Carbon to the anime fray. As announced by Netflix in Singapore during a “What’s Next” event, Sato will be joined by Tsukasa Hondo in birthing the new series at animation studio, Anima, exploring new elements of the story mythology in the universe introduced currently in the live-action series. The show, packed with sex, intrigue and tons of action and mystery, is based on the 2002 cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan which precedes two more books in its construction. Joel Kinnanan stars at the center of the narrative led by series creator Laeta Kalogridis, telling of Takeshi Kovacs – an Envoy soldier killed years earlier and revived to solve an intriguing murder.
