Reports: Amazon Touting ‘Creed-Verse’ Efforts With Michael B. Jordan

Deadline‘s Anthony D’Alessandro, Nellie Andreeva, and Peter White are reporting that a more unilateral TV and film campaign is in the works at Amazon following the $100+ million box office success of Creed III. According to the report, a “Creed-Verse” is brewing to create an animated series, as well as a companion live-action series, and a possible project that centers on Amara, the daughter to our protagonist in the third film portrayed by Mila Davis-Kent in her film debut. News of this comes in the wake of concurrent developments of another spin-off from the events of 2018’s Creed sequel announced last summer, briefly igniting controversy regarding the contended rights battle between producer Irwin Winkler, and Sylvester Stallone, star of the Rocky film saga and a mainstay of the franchise whose titular character bowed from the saga in the Stephen Caple Jr.-directed film. LORD OF THE RINGS: Amazon’s Epic New Series Adds Will Poulter

Actor Will Poulter is joining actress Markella Kavenagh for Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings series which commences principal photography next year. Variety‘s Joe Otterson and Justin Kroll broke the news on Wednesday while details are being kept under wraps about the roles the two talents will play. Kavenagh, whose credits include TV shows such as Romper Stomper and My Life Is Murder, was attached in July. J.A. Bayona (Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom) is reportedly helming the series with Bruce Richmond (Game of Thrones) and Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad), and writers Justin Doble (Stranger Things), and Jason Cahill (The Sopranos) all exec producing. Currently, a 20th Century Fox adaptation of Marvel character Gambit which continues to remain in limbo since late last year as one of several films I’ve been hoping to see movement on and I can’t really imagine what the hold up is. At any rate, the director of upcoming 80’s crime thriller, Mena, has been piling up and as of March, the stack includes The Wall, a new psychological war thriller from Amazon Stuidos in their first foray to original film territory. That film, written by Dwain Worrell, has now cast actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson following this week’s report from Variety, which states he will play an American sniper caught in a cat-and-mouse game with an Iraqi sharpshooter who has him pinned behind a small chunk of concrete.
