Brazilian kung fu stoner comedy, The Smoke Master, is finally on track to start the new year with a U.S. release from Freestyle Digital Media. VOD rights were announced by the company earlier this month will plans to release the film on DVD, and all stateside digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms from January 2.

Pun intended or not, it’s high time that the kung fu cinema crowd had another stake in the game and for this, we turn to actor Daniel Rocha who leads the way in The Smoke Master, from directors Augusto Soares and Andre Sigwalt. The Brazilian production has finally run its course at festivals and will soon see a domestic release beginning May 18, a long-awaited milestone for the directing duo who toiled away at creating something subversive, bold and new, and for all intents and purposes, an enjoyable martial arts comedy for all.
