Well Go USA Picks Up Donnie Yen Crime Thriller, CHASING THE DRAGON, And More

Action star and actor Donnie Yen has been enjoying a rather celebratory year. Two Hollywood films in with the hopeful prospect of another, it was just last month that he wrapped his latest pairing with director Wong Jing for the forthcoming Hong Kong crime drama, Chasing The Dragon. As of last week’s kick off at EFM however, the word now is that Well Go USA has acquired the film for its release in North America and other English-speaking territories. The film reimagines Poon Man-kit’s 1991 crime epic, To Be Number One, with Yen in a cinematic revival of real-life crimeboss Ng Sek-ho, whose Scorsesean rags-to-riches story took to headlines with the escalation of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Filmmaker Ding Sheng had a great year last year with his most recent crime thriller, Saving Mr. Wu. Following its overseas release and achieving accolades such as Feature Film Of The Year and Best Actor, the film was granted a limited U.S. theatrical release from United Entertainment Partners back in October – the same people that brought you one of Xu Haofeng’s best minimal martial arts dramas, The Final Master just this month. Antics Ensue In The New Trailer For Wong Jing's MISSION MILANO

Actor Andy Lau will be someone to keep an eye on this year, particularly if you’re curious about his international appeal with the Matt Damon epic, The Great Wall opening later this year. In the meantime, he’s recently come off appearing in director Wong Jing’s third From Vegas To Macau 3 installation and now he’s featured in the latest trailer for Jing’s newest action comedy, Mission Milano. The film was announced back in March as one of a slate of pictures on the to-do list for Warner Bros.’s Asian production shingle, Flagship Entertainment. Lau joins actor Huang Xiaoming in the respective roles of an inspector sent to help a wealthy entrepreneur who goes incognito to prevent a new famine-ending invention from falling into the wrong hands. Depending on what songs you listen to, action legend Sammo Hung’s new movie, My Beloved Bodyguard (a.k.a. The Bodyguard) can bode either as a fun and family-friendly flick or a poignant and brutal action thriller. On its face, however, is the insistence of both given the trailers we’ve seen and so there’s no doubt that the film will be a see-saw of emotion throughout, and that also comes in the wake of two music videos circulating online ahead of the film’s release Co-star, actor and singing sensation Andy Lau performs the first song titled “Forgive Me”, with second titled “Grandfather’s Love Letter”, as performed by Hung and young talent, Jessica Liu.
