Angelica Celaya Joins NBC's CONSTATINE
Actress Angelica Celaya came on my radar in the past year or so with the long awaited release of director Fernando Barreda Luna’s conceptual Grindhouse action short, Kiss Of Vengeance. Further updates are still developing on that end, although Celaya will soon find herself in the throes of a brewing war between the underworld and the living realm this Fall with her latest addition to the cast of the new NBC series, Constantine, based on the DC Comics property of the same name. Variety reports that Celaya will play the character Mary “Zed” Martin, who becomes John Constantine’s love interest as she joins him against the forces of darkness. Celaya’s announcement solidifies her role in place of actress Lucy Griffiths who will appear in the pilot, directed by Neil Marshall. It was back in 2012 at the height of recent feature successes like Machete and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse Double Feature that a trailer was introduced online for Atrocious helmer Fernando Barreda Luna‘s latest new shortfilm, Kiss Of Vengeance. Since then, the shortfilm completed its overall post-production before leaving an impression during last year’s film festival run as the central pitch to potentially help fund a feature-length film inspired by its concept-a gritty, seething and stylish Tex-Mex revenge opera about a young woman who walks the neverending path of blood to find the men who massacred her mother and father right before her eyes.
