While Disney+ subscribers continue to get their fill with a lean-and-mean line-up of hit streaming programs, those viewers can still fully expect to see their butts in movie theater seats soon, just in time to bear witness to the post-Avengers fourth and next debut phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beginning this November with Marvel’s The Eternals, director Chloe Zhao marks her fourth feature film to date after notching up some career buzz since her Camera d’Or-nominated 2015 drama, Songs My Brothers Taught Me. Her most recent feature, Nomadland starring Frances McDormand, scored several wins last year, including TIFF’s Peoples’ Choice Award, and the Leonard Maltin Tribute Award. Marvel Studios’ Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out […]
If there’s anything you can take away from the last five years or so when it comes to Taylor Sheridan, it’s that there’s a reason he’s gotten to work with directors like David Mackenzie and Denis Villeneuve. Sheridan’s potential bodes with nothing short of kept promise that can only be sampled in his work, including Sheridan’s own 2017 debut, Wind River, a compelling and brutal view into the reservation which saw an FBI agent and a wildlife officer on the hunt for an elusive killer. That film purely thrusts you into an intense and thrilling neo-noir on the western frontier with chilling and violent results, and serves as a high mark for a first time director who’s also just as good on-screen as he is off, in addition to his recent television credits on Yellowstone. His momentum continues this year following suit with screenwriting credits for upcoming Amazon release, Tom […]
I’ll tell you right now: if you’ve passed up any of Taylor Sheridan’s films for any reason, you’d best set aside the weekend to check out Hell Or High Water, Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario or even Stefano Sollima’s sequel to that very film. Sheridan wrote those titles and even made his directorial debut a few years ago on Wind River which stands as one of the best, most-received neo-Westerns ever made. And yes, he’s back at it once more and is partnering up with BRON Studios and Film Rites to direct Those Who Wish Me Dead, a film that’s been stirring about for quite a while based of Mike Fleming Jr. own reporting at Deadline in recent years. Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie is reportedly finalizing talks to star in the film as of Monday, and with a script by Sheridan based on Michael Koryta’s 2014 Little Brown novel of the same […]
