Director Wych Kaosayananda’s craft took quite a turn overseas in the years since landing his first major Hollywood motion picture, Ballistic: Ecks VS Sever. It was a crowning achievement and a sign of better things to come prior to a challenging post-production process, and a career that eventually pivoted back overseas in Asia where he would ultimately start anew with the 2012 thriller, Angels. Set in Thailand, Kaosayananda writes and directs with actors Dustin Nguyen and Sahajak Boonthanakit starring as Johnny and Peter, former CIA operatives of yesteryear with Peter now working as a Thai detective. Filmmaker Wych Kaosayananda is a clear case study in resilience. His big break into Hollywood with the 2002 action thriller, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, didn’t pan out the way he hoped for a number of reasons. And before most of us knew it, despite the many studio offers he received, Kaosayananda diverged away from Hollywood for a really long time, which is probably why you might be wondering just what happened after all this time. Well, nowadays, Kaosayananda is looking to leave an impression once again on an international scale. Director Wych Kaosayanada has been pretty busy for the past couple of years, working on a number of projects, including gigs as cinematographer on the upcoming action thriller, Tekken: Kazuya’s Revenge, as well as on actor Dustin Nguyen‘s 2013 directorial debut, Once Upon A Time In Vietnam. Currently, details regarding those other projects are being kept tight under wraps, but at least one gig has been re-emerging as of late, with the long-awaited release of his latest feature crime thriller, Zero Tolerance, as indicated by the new poster: Initially starring Nguyen with actors Sahajak Boonthanakit and Gary Daniels, the film saw its early days under the title, Angels back in 2012. The latest film to make headlines this year along with Dustin Nguyen’s new film, Once Upon A Time In Vietnam, is a largely English-language action crime thriller made in Thailand called Angels from Gear Head Company and Kaos Entertainment. The film also stars Sahajak Boonthanakit, Gary Daniels and Ammy Chanicha, and is directed by Thai filmmaker Wych Kaosayananda, returning to the director’s chair since his directorial debut with the Antonio Banderas action thriller, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever. ANGELS went under the radar for a little bit since the debut of its trailers in summer and fall of 2012, until its theatrical release in Vietnam in November of last year.
