AVA SNOW BATTLES DEATH Kickstarts Fundraising This Week!
Independent filmmaker Zack Drisko spoke to Film Combat Syndicate a few weeks ago to announce his new crowdfunding campaign for his inspired webseries, Ava Snow Battles Death. As of Monday, Drisko‘s new kickstarter was launched, in the hopes to raise $5,000 to help make his project a reality.
Rest assured, with the kind of film industry professionals he has in his corner, and with more donations, Drisko could very well up the antee and deliver something spectacular, creative and memorable for the Ava Snow character, further showing the world what an overactive imagination could accomplish… And that’s where you come in.
On that note, here’s the official press release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – Oct. 7, 2013 – LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Los Angeles, Calif. 10/7/13 – The digital action series “Ava Snow Battles Death” officially launched their Kickstarter fundraising campaign Saturday, Oct. 5, at a cast and crew screening in Santa Monica, Calif.
The series is a fantasy-horror-comedy about a knife-throwing heroine named Ava Snow and the overlords from another dimension who want to steal her soul.
“We’ve filmed parts of the series,” said Zack Drisko, one of the creators, “but we need to raise the funds to finish it. We’re asking for five thousand, which is enough to make our pilot, but we’re hoping to achieve some of our stretch goals and make the entire five-episode series we have planned. We have a great story to tell that we’d love to share with people.”
“Ava Snow Battles Death” was created by Drisko and Arielle Davidsohn. They wrote the series together for Drisko to direct and for Davidsohn to star as the knife-throwing heroine. Davidsohn underwent extreme physical training for the role. Davidsohn trained mixed martial arts with professional fighter Cassiano Laureano, who trained at Kings MMA and Werdum Combat Team, home to UFC fighters such as Anderson Silva, Fabricio Werdum, Wanderlei Silva, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. She also trained knife-throwing with world champion Carl Geddes.
“I was never athletic or coordinated, so learning how to fight Muay Thai and throw knives almost killed me,” Davidsohn said. “Even though I still have a long way to go until I’m pleased with my skills, I feel proud of how far I was able to come and look forward to honing my skills as the project continues.”
Laureano praised her aptitude. “She’s really willing to learn,” said the professional fighter. “She doesn’t give up. She surprised me with the triangle choke.”
The cast and crew of “Ava Snow Battles Death” includes people such as Daniel Scruggs, a VFX artist from “Game of Thrones,” Russ Glasgow, promo editor for “Tron: Legacy” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Steve Rizzo, stuntman from “The Dark Knight Rises” and “No Country for Old Men,” Andrew Parkhurst, director of photography for Ridley Scott’s “Prophets of Science Fiction,” Robert C. Jackson, sound designer on “50/50” and “The Expendables,” Christopher Jenkins Holmes, who had a recurring role on “90210” and YouTube star Sam Proof.
“Launching this Kickstater campaign is a really exciting step forward for us,” said Drisko. “The project means so much to all of us, so we’re going to do everything we can to make this campaign a success.”
