BADLANDS: ‘Prey’ Director Developing New Standalone ‘Predator’ Movie
Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey was an engrossing hit in 2022 upon its release on Hulu, and the word now is that he’s on board with another standalone film in the Predator universe this time with Badlands from 20th Century Studios. He is still in development with a sequel to Prey as well which could see actress Amber Midthunter reprise her role as the daring heroine that took on the intergalactic killer stalking her Commanche tribe. As for Badlands, there are no other plot or casting details with Friday’s news. Badlands and the in-development Prey sequel mark the latest potential additions to the saga since its theatrical launch of Predator from 20th Century Fox in 1987 from director John McTiernan, and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and the late Carl Weathers, and introducing late costume actor Kevin Peter Hall in the iconic title role. Daniel Wu To Chart A Warrior's Course Through BADLANDS For AMC
The second half of 2014 has shown some great progress for the folks over at AMC Studios in lieu of the upcoming fantasy action series, Badlands, loosely based on late author Wu Cheng’en’s classic novel, Journey To The West. Veteran film and television producers Al Gough and Miles Millar are boarding the project with notable Asian cinema favorites Stephen Fung and Daniel Wu, and if you’re familar with the latter two, then this particular project should draw your attention quite a bit, especially as casting continues. That said, you may also be familiar with Wu‘s screen credits, and if not, then it’s not too late. AMC Martial Arts Drama Series, BADLANDS, Scores 'The Judge' Director
Tai Chi 0 helmer Stephen Fung’s recent departure from the upcoming remake of Kickboxer should provide plenty of time with fellow cohort Daniel Wu to executive produce their latest series endeavor tentatively titled Badlands for AMC. The two are joined by Oscar-nominated Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg, and series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar who were all announced for the project back in July, which while loosely based on late author Wu Cheng’en’s often film-translated late 16th century tale, “Journey To The West”, centers on a story of a great warrior and a young boy who trek across a dangerous land to find enlightenment. AMC Journeys Westward With Series Order For Martial Arts Drama, BADLANDS
Folks who have fallen in love with shows like Breaking Bad and are current viewers of The Walking Dead series can now begin preparing themselves for a little more martial arts in their line-up. Deadline is now reporting that producing partners Al Gough and Miles Millar (Shanghai Knights, Smallville) are now behind the forthcoming production of the new AMC martial arts drama series, Badlands, which, while loosely based on late author Wu Cheng’en’s often film-translated late 16th century tale, “Journey To The West”, carries a description that reads as follows: In a land controlled by feudal barons, Badlands tells the story of a great warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.
