BLUE IGUANA: Iggy Pop Joins Crime Comedy Starring Bob Saget And Joel David Moore

Actor and punk-rock icon Iggy Pop (Coffee and Cigarettes, Universal Pictures Cry-Baby, The Crow: City Of Angels) has joined the cast of the dark comedy Blue Iguana, currently filming in the Cayman Islands under the newly announced three-picture production deal between Productivity Media and Darius Films. Jeremy LaLonde (James vs. His Future Self, Sex After Kids) is directing the film from a script by Matthew Dressel (YouTube’s “The Pilot is Dead”) and stars Joel David Moore (James Cameron’s Avatar), Bob Saget (“Full House,” “Fuller House”), Jason Jones (TBS comedy series “The Detour,” HBO Max’s “The Flight Attendant”), Carly Chaikin (“Mr. Robot”), and Mary Lynn Rajskub (Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love, Fox Searchlight Pictures’ Little Miss Sunshine, and TV’s “24”).In Blue Iguana, Iggy Pop will play Edward, the wealthy patriarch whose death kicks off a chain of unfortunate events after Daniel Powell’s plan to reconnect with his siblings hits a snag when he discovers they all want to kill him for his inheritance. As the brothers and sisters are forced to spend the weekend together at the family beach house on the Cayman Islands, one thing becomes painfully clear: Daniel’s going to find out what family means, even if it kills him.Production on Blue Iguana comes following four picture production agreement back in early March with the Cayman Islands Film Commission, the Cayman’s Ministry of International Trade, Investment, Aviation and Maritime Affairs and Dart Enterprises championed by Eric Bush, Chief Officer of the Ministry of International Trade, Investment, Aviation and Maritime Affairs and Jackie Doak, President of Business Development at Dart Enterprises. This marks the first time the Cayman Islands has entered into a multi-production deal and marks a major turning point in the territory’s emerging film industry. Stringent COVID-19 guidelines have helped the Cayman Islands become a COVID safe zone. Under the comprehensive production deal, the Cayman Islands Government has facilitated access to multiple locations across the islands, hotel support for visiting cast and crew, as well as expedited work permits and essential administration that allowed production to start on time.  Strategic partner Dart Enterprises is also providing vital hospitality and logistical support.William G. Santor, CEO of Productivity Media, and Nicholas Tabarrok, President of Darius Films are producing the film alongside Leah Jaunzems and Jason Jallet. John Hills (Momentum Pictures’ Black Bear, Vertical Entertainment’s Four Good Days, Darius Films’ Stockholm) and Andrew Chang-Sang (Momentum Pictures’ Black Bear, Vertical Entertainment’s Four Good Days, Darius Films’ Stockholm) serve as exec producers.Producers Santor and Tabarrok said, “We are beyond ecstatic to have the legendary Iggy Pop join the cast of Blue Iguana. While purely coincidental to his casting, his name is derived from the word iguana so it couldn’t be more fitting that Iggy joins our already stellar cast. We can’t wait to work with him in the beautiful Cayman Islands.”Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International is handling worldwide distribution rights for Blue Iguana.
