Actor and filmmaker Bruce Khan (Revenger, The Killer) is pounding the pavement lately to promote his own series of martial arts and screenfighting seminars through his platform, S.E.M. Academy, in North America. His next stop will be at Mr. J’s Gymnastics in New York City’s Williamsburg section of Brooklyn on Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. There’s a payment tier for the events as well, with $150 for one day, $300 for the weekend, and $400 for an entire VIP package that extends to a private one hour session with the actor on whatever attendees want to discuss. There was a promo cut together boosting the event that recently made the rounds which included a little bit of action from his upcoming thriller, Purgatory: Zone Of Murderers, spliced in. That promo pretty much disappeared into the ether, but if you’re in Brooklyn this month and up […]
I’m reminded of my friend Sifu Brian Kuttel’s thoughts on sound with respect to feature film post production, and he made some notable points for a piece he did not too long ago which brings me to a guy named Tomas over in Argentina. And as rife as YouTube is with all the movie fight scene porn a fanboy can endulge, Tomas here has the right idea for what transpires over at his EpicFights YouTube channel. His latest is a snippet from an action sequence midway into one of Netflix’s January releases, Revenger, starring Bruce Khan as a future ex-cop who condemns himself to a remote island prison to finish off the crimelord who murdered his family. Provenly, it’s no easy feat as he’ll have to contend with desperate survivors, a young girl eager to avenge her father, and the small armies defending his nemesis at every turn. Tomas’ latest […]
As you’re reading this, I’m somewhere between wanting to let my memory breathe so I can suss my thoughts, and wanting to put on record what came to mind per the moment. That’s pretty much the common mindset for anyone driven to express themselves in someway or another, and all the while, I couldn’t be happier that a guy like Bruce Khan is channeling his creative fervor through martial arts and action cinema. His career is bookmarked with only a handful of film titles in several facets in stunts and set-extra, and even actor. I’m even more curious to see how well his role was in the KBS2 drama, The Bridal Mask, what with my own penchants toward Korean dramas every now and then. His 2005 film, Young Man Kang’s The Last Eve, remains an appreciated and beloved gem for the film festival crowds lucky to catch it on the […]
It’s Tuesday, January 15, and that means the rarity of watching Korean actor and martial artist Bruce Khan on screen is a rarity no more with the Netflix release of his latest, Revenger. Khan plays a man who infiltrates a remote island prison to partake in a deadly game in order to find his family’s murderer. Lee Seung-won makes his directing debut here with Khan returning to the spotlight since Young Man Kang’s The Last Eve and the 2012 KBS2 drama, The Bridal Mask. I haven’t read the reviews and so like most Westerners who can’t read any Korean reviews for feedback, I’m going into this film albeit blind aside from how impressive the trailers have been in my view. Khan’s return is one that I feel is wholly worth celebrating since The Last Eve which I still haven’t seen. He represents the kind of raw, electrifying action talent it […]
You can now head over anywhere online listing the forthcoming titles of January for Netflix, including at EW. Interestingly, Lee Seung-won’s Revenger appears to be among the lot with a date set for January 15 which should serve nicely for the martial arts action crowd following its release in South Korea earlier this month. From Little Big Pictures, Revenger film hails the return of actor and martial artist Bruce Khan, back from obscurity since Kang Young-Man’s 2005 fantasy actioner, The Last Eve, and his appearance in the 2012 KBS2 series manhwa drama, The Bridal Mask. Khan plays Yool, a man out to seek vengeance for his family’s murder by setting his sights on the remote grounds of a deadly prison island and its incarcerated hierarchy. That’s pretty much the thick of it as far as plot details go, though anyone by now who has seen the trailers has more than […]
Lee Seung-won’s new film, Revenger, is just a few days from its release, and is back in the fray with a new behind-the-scenes look at the film featuring the cast, and with English commentary by co-star, actor and martial arts star T.J. Storm (Punisher: War Zone, Boone: The Bounty Hunter, Deadpool). Storm doesn’t delve into his character much, but he’s very much in his element with a strong, action-packed cast led by actor and martial artist Bruce Khan (The Last Eve, The Bridal Mask). Khan also penned the script in which he also stars here as a former special detective who infiltrates a notorious island prison to find the men responsible for the murder of his family. Featuring action is comprised of both Korean and Indonesian stunt talent embodying Apex Stunt Team and Pirahna Stunts, Khan makes his long-awaited return to the screen in South Korea this Thursday. I keep […]
Director Lee Seung-won’s debut feature, Revenger, was off to a searing hot start last month with its teaser. The campaign has been steady with promo footage along with a
Little continues to be known about the international rollout plan for Bruce Khan’s latest return to the big screen, Revenger. It’s directed by Lee Seong-won and is set for a December 6 release which leaves South Korean moviegoers with a time table to guide their wait. In the meantime, the internets have gifted us a clip of the film – a small tidbit to tease the carnage that lies ahead. Khan plays a man out to seek vengeance for his family’s murder, setting his sights on the remote grounds of a deadly prison island and its incarcerated hierarchy. Revenger feels moreso like Khan’s calling card now as it makes the rounds since he earned praise for his earlier acting credit, The Last Eve. He’s worked on several notable credits with Jackie Chan in his earlier career and segueing to Young Man Kang in 2005, and apart from other Korean drama […]
Director Kang Young-Man’s award-winning 2005 actioner, The Last Eve, was a rarity for anyone keeping up with burgeoning up-and-comer Bruce Khan. For those not too in the know, Khan was a stuntman and fight choreographer for a time whose credits include Kim Sung-Soo’s coming-of-age gangster drama, Beat, Hong Kong actioners Gen-X Cops and Gen-Y Cops and Jackie Chan pic, The Medallion. Things pretty much flatlined going forward despite the prospects of a Khan/Kang reunion as it’s been more than a decade since then, and so if the latest trailer for Revenger gives you an immediate case of the Holy Shits with a side of whiplash, you are totally forgiven. The immediate look and feel of this is just some of the most exciting shit you’ll see this week if you’ve been pining for a Korean action movie, and with a lead actor with a penchant for fast-twitch, lighting speed kicks […]
