REDEEMER: Chad Law-Penned Action Pic From Bluegrass Taps Latin American Female Cinematographer For Directing Debut

Screenwriter Chad Law (Daylight’s End, Drive Hard) will reteam with noted cinematographer, now debut director Carmen Cabana for action thriller, Redeemer. Production is slated for the summer with Bluegrass Pictures CEO Joel Shapiro serving as producer. Redeemer centers on a former Catholic priest who has renounced his faith and religious ties to enact violent retribution against the gang who murdered his mentor and fellow priests. The very linchpin of his revenge campaign is ultimately tied to his own past, in a story that will soon force him to take stock of his own violent acts, and perhaps help return him back to a path of faith and hopeful redemption. “I am very excited to bring a female perspective to it and be a part of this fantastic project. Chad Law and Farah White on the set of DAYLIGHT’S END I still actually have a ways to go in catching up with certain titles that fell off the radar for me in the last several years. William Kaufman’s small scale 2010 film Sinners And Saints is one of them, especially after managing to snag a few viewings of his 2005 killer thriller, The Prodigy, which absolutely impressed me. Assuredly, I’m not the last one to gush about Kaufman’s work. Shane Dax Taylor's Island Thriller, ISOLATION Gets A Summer 2016 Release

The Grey (2004) and Provinces Of The Night (2010) helmer Shane Dax Taylor is looking to leave a mark starting this weekend with fellow scribe Chad Law for director Isaac Florentine’s new movie, Close Range. In the meantime, the two are currently leaving an impression with Taylor‘s latest and third feature work, Isolation, which recently wrapped things up last month at the Austin Film Festival. Law’s script centers on Luke Mably and Tricia Helfer who play a happy couple looking for an exotic getaway in the Bahamas – that is until their new, albeit menacing neighbors threaten to turn their vacation in paradise into nothing short of a seething nightmare. Those neighbors happen to be actress Marie Avgeropolous and powerhouse actors Dominc Purcell and Stephen Lang. Director Sam Mendes’s 2005 film, Jarhead, always centered itself with me as a standalone war drama servicing some meaty character growth with the help of memorable performances. That said, I’m kind of caught off guard by the fact that a sequel was released last year just nine years later from director Don Michael Paul which was thankfully received enough that its now getting a third from The Prodigy helmer William Kaufman titled Jarhead: The Siege. Kaufman will reteam once more with The Hit List and One In The Chamber screenwriter Chad Law and co-scribe Michael Weiss with a script that centers on a team of Marines who are assigned to protect a U.S. Embassy in the Middle East when it is suddenly under attack. CLOSE RANGE Finally Gets A Production Start Date

Well, it only took eight months for the ball to get rolling, but the word now is that the forthcoming production of the next Isaac Florentine action thriller, Close Range, will commense filming on December 1, from Bleiberg Entertainment’s Compound B. The initial report back in January announced the film’s latest reuinion for cult martial arts superstar Scott Adkins, and director Isaac Florentine, following eleven years of successful action hits like Special Forces (2003), Undisputed 2 & 3 and Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear (2013).
