Well, it only took eight months for the ball to get rolling, but the word now is that the forthcoming production of the next Isaac Florentine action thriller, Close Range, will commense filming on December 1, from Bleiberg Entertainment’s Compound B. The initial report back in January announced the film’s latest reuinion for cult martial arts superstar Scott Adkins, and director Isaac Florentine, following eleven years of successful action hits like Special Forces (2003), Undisputed 2 & 3 and Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear (2013).
Daylight’s End and Drive Hard scribe Chad Law and Provinces Of Night helmer Shane Dax Taylor are seving as co-producers, as well as providing the screenplay for the new film which centers on Adkins as Colton MacReady, a man left vulnerable by a corrupt sheriff and his men while cornered in his own ranch and forced to protect his family from a blood-thirsty drug cartel after rescuing his niece from their capture. Film Combat Syndicate briefly reached out to Law on Friday to gain just a little bit more insight on the film and on his own enthusiasm to kick things off this Winter with Adkins and Florentine. “I’ve wanted to work with Scott for a long time, something that’s nearly happened a few times now, and he and l have been talking about it briefly back and forth over the years…” Law says. “And Isaac, to me, I’ve long said is one of the best action directors working today. Period. I actually just get a set of notes from him on the script. Honestly, couldn’t be more excited!”
Locations for the production are currently being sought after between either California, Texas or Nevada ahead of the film’s 2015 release.
